9 for me. I enjoy 8 but I think that trying to fix any of its quirks would result in game that just didn't feel like FFVIII anymore.

Now when it comes to 9 I feel like it would suite modern graphics better. If you remade 8 it would all be hyper realistic like 7 remake, but with 9 it has a more charming cartoony aesthetic that would be more interesting.

As a nearly 50yr old gamer who has been playing Final Fantasy since the very first one on NES, I'd say FF9. No doubt. It's not my favorite, but it's in the top 5 of Square's FF series, at least. It's a classic style FF game with white/black/blue mages, monks, knights, and dragoons. Plus it has some of the best music and art of the entire series as well. Very easy pick.

Though really, if I had a REAL wish, I'd wish that FF 6 was made completely in 3D, but kept turn-based, and a special extra episode would be added at the end that would involve a new threat to face. That would be my real preference.
Yeah... I suspect many people would want a FULL 3D remake of the 6... but I ALSO suspect that would be a huge HUGE massive job for SE. Although... they graphically adapted very well the "Magitek armor" as a "Mount" for FFXIV Online, which was one of the most amazing things I got when I was playing that game (along with the music it sounds while you are using it). Many people did videos with that mount, walking the always "snow covered" Coerthas region of FFXIV, because it is the most similar thing SE give us in 3D of the epic opening credits of FFVI.
So... who knows... they maybe, someday... XD.

seeing how they did FF7 remake. I don´t want any remake because then I will be forced to pay 3 times more than I paid for the original and have to wait several years to finish it. So no thanks Fuck Square.

Come on, I explicitly said It could be just 1 game. Really? no opinion?

stop remaking/remastering shit and go make vagrant story 2 and new final fantasy tactics!

I now present to all of you FF fans... my "real world" timeline!

FF Unlimited > FF Lost Stranger > FF Dissidia Duellum > FF The Spirits Within

Unlimited and Lost Stranger both start off in Japan, and Spirits Within takes place on Earth far into the future. That's all I've got for now.

Edit- Ah, almost forgot that FF Tactics Advance 1 and 2 are like an isekai type of thing, but outside of a reference to a video game called Final Fantasy at the start of Advance 1, I'm not 100% sure they take place in the "real world".

Edit 2- The new Dissidia game takes place in Japan, so might as well throw that in there.

the first three could work like that. they also could all take place at the same time. but spirits within is its own thing. it really has nothing to do with final fantasy, outside of 3 small references.
the tactics advance games primarily take place in Ivalice, which is the world that ff12 takes place in. the grimoire that marche and luso find is a powerful spellbook that can rip open the fabric of time and space.

i think the two tactics advance games would go before lost stranger, either before or after unlimited

it's possible. i haven't watched the tv show yet, i don't know anything about the stranger one and i presume since the dissidia is the newest one, it takes place around this time period.
the most likely timeline is the release date of each series.
ff unlimited came out oct 2001.
tactics advance came out feb 2003.
tactics advance 2 came out oct 2007
and lost stranger came out july 2017.
dissidia deullum will be set in 2026, since it will release next year.
this is presuming that they take place after each other. it's possible unlimited and tactics advance start at the same time and then the others come afterwards.
its also possible that these series follow the mainline games and pretty much all occur at the same time completely independent of each other or happen thousands of years apart.

I received the counter offer from SE:
You will get a remaster of Vagrant Story with same graphics, widescreen format, IA expanded texture resolution... and a pair of Vagrant Story themed wallpapers for your PC, for 70 bucks. 80, for the physical version (includes the plastic case).

Either take it or leave it
(If I was you... I would take it, bro).

Final Fantasy Tactics will get another re-release in 3 years, with a complete new brand sub-title: "The Lion of Ivalice". 90 bucks.

FF8 is the one that should be remade because the original was unfinished to begin with.

Make GFs work either like summons from FFX (hyper streamlined Pokémon) or design the entire battle system around them, turning it into more of a creature builder game, where the characters call them out regularly more like how seamlessly they work in Persona. The characters are still there and you can attack with them whatever, but the growth comes from the GFs.

Ok, as I see nobody more is voting, we have...
1 vote for FFIX
7 votes for FFVIII.

Well... that is something.
Of course this is a very little sample. But... coming from a retro forum, and the fact I never see people demanding a FFVIII remake, while that rumor of a FFXI Remake appears from time to time, it seems surprising...

I cannot remember a single time a rumor of a Remake (even a weak rumor) for FF8. Meanwhile, in the last years, FF9 was almost constantly speculated to have a Remake, and videos in youtube fantasizing with one (I could be wrong, but those are the inputs I had).

Do you believe there is some reason a FFVIII Remake IS NEVER on the bets to get a Remake (remake, not a "simple remaster") by SE?
Because we can't have nice things. Instead we have to suffer through FF 9's boring, generic fantasy setting again along with Excalibur II speed running bullshit:rolleyes:

Depends on what you mean by "remake", if you mean a fake remake like the ff7 remake trilogy, then i'd rather neither, if you mean a true remake similar to the recently released "The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 1st", then FFIX, i like 8 but it would need to have half the systems changed to a more traditional system to be worth replaying as a remake.
Btw i actually prefer 8 over 9 as a game, but 8's reliance on items, draw system and cards annoyed me that eventually i broke my "never cheat on first playthrough" rule with that game as it annoyed me, as a story it's great though.

If there *HAD* to be remakes? VIII over IX, if only because it makes more sense with the art style. I think IX would likely lose the charm it already has, whereas VIII was already struggling to portray realistic people; it'd probably benefit more from a modern conversion.

While I normally have a stance against remakes, if I had to choose between these 2, I'd pick VIII. IX I think is perfect as is (Although a re-translation of the game would be welcome seeing as A LOT was lost in the localisation of that game), and VIII was always dog shit to me so maybe they could try and make it an actual good game with a remake (Which I guess is the ideal mindset for remakes in my mind; take bad things and try and make them good).

I can't be bothered to read the thread and I assume this point has already been made but:

FFIX is pretty much perfect as is, it really doesn't need a remake.

FFVIII is a functional game that tried something new but has a broken combat system that needs a entire overhaul to make it fun.

I got VII Rebirth at day one but that game honestly keeps repelling me for some reasons. Every time I want to play and make progresses I just stop after some cutscene.
It may be for the direction this Remake trilogy, it may be for how sick I am from seeing only FFVIIR as the only Final Fantasy rappresentative in socials.
I'm also very disgusted that Before Crisis and First Soldier (with the added additional plot) avaiable contents are exclusive to an already dead gacha.

And yet I don't have issues to play once in a while Crisis Core Reunion. Probably because that game slaps and I have amazing memories from the PSP og.
I really wish they could release FFVIIR3 asap so we can finally be done with that mainline game and moving on to new potential projects...even if the current Square Enix management is worrisome.

Oh, well, at least I'm glad that for this year I beat other FF, like Heavensward, Mystic Quest, Final Bar Line and XVI.

I cosplayed Locke an damn, gotta say that's really an amazing Celes cosplay.

yeah mystic quest mention

also i was wondering, is final bar line any good? is it worth buying?

It's fanservice done very well, so yes. My only disappointment was that the FFXVI DLC didn't included its characters at all. The real objective bad thing is obviously how the DLCs are managed, between the Premium Digital Deluxe stuff and 3 Season Passes...but if you love FF and Square Enix videogame history, you won't be disappointed. I was surprised they put Live A Live, SaGa, Xenogears, TWEWY etc.

technically, you would need all 3 games if you want the complete experience, since they don't include all of the music tracks in each game. i don't know why they did this, but despite the game seeming like it is the most content full installment of the sub series, it is not.
i played the demo on the switch. it plays like the first two; just with a bit more stuff in it. no touchscreen support for it though.

Was gonna bench them anyways, I feel bad about benching Tifa tho

Haven't used Vincent before but thats cause his Limit break has always seemed kinda bad
just play the game for fun. you don't need to do a challenge run or anything for the game. use whichever characters that you want to.
