Oh, I really like the FF VII Remake series so far, but in no way do I want every remake SE do to become a trilogy hehe ::sailor-embarrassed

So, on the condition that it is one singular finished and polished game, give me the FF IX Remake. If I need a reason, it's because I haven't finished VIII yet hehe :loldog

Personally i Would prefer a remake of 8. Only because i think it is a more flawed game than 9. And TBH i prefer the art direction of 8. I like the weird SciFI Setting. 9 also has a very strong and unique art direction. But the setting of Fantasy Medieval simply isn't as cool to me.

The QUESTION IS: if you could choose, if you had the REAL OPTION (for whatever reason), to decide in a COMPULSORY way, which remake SE would have to be OBLIGED to make... what would you choose: a Remake of Final Fantasy VIII, or a Remake of Final Fantasy IX?
FFVIII or FFIX? You could choose ONE. The other one, would be discarded.

And if you want, explain why that one... and not the other.
That question is specially aimed to older players who played during the original PSX era and have memories of the original games... but is ALSO open to anyone else, most preferably, fans of that saga.

I'm interested to know if FFIX is the preferred game (between those 2), like many said some months ago, during the rumors of a FFIX remake. Which game you would REALLY LIKE to see, in a full glorious remake, between those 2?

(And to be clear: as a Remake, I'm talking about a triple A Remake. Maybe not necessarily a "massive full trilogy remake" like the FFVII one... but at least... an EXPENSIVE remake. That means, not the Final Fantasy Tactics kind of "remake").
I would say VIII. I made a whole thread dedicated to IX, and I love it to bits, but it’s the one that needs it less. VIII is a complicated sort that has a bunch of cool ideas individually that don’t necessarily coellexsed into a nice whole. That said: it has sick ideas. And fun things within it.
We complain about game streamlining a lot, for many reasons, but VIII is the kind of game that would benefit from that sort of thing lol. As long as the team is passionate about the ideas they choose to pursue, it could be fantastic.

IX is too good for its own good. If they goof it up in any way, we would let them know. Loudly. And angrily. Possibly with pitchforks.

VIII. The setting has so much potential. I find it kind of funny how hard the VII Remake series works to paint SOLDIER as a horrific program, and SeeD is just natively worse in the base game than they've managed to achieve.

VIII has the best card game. Queen's Blood is pretty good, but it's limited. Only a few specific characters play it, and it isn't something you're free to just go do. It's tied to the side quest characters. Same with Fort Condor. I wish that was a game people just played, instead of a couple of specific side quest games that require defined strategies to get by.

Tetra Master is something you can just go up to anyone and play, but it's terrible. It would need a complete redesign to salvage it. In a remake of VIII, I would want them to keep the card game the way it is, something you can just play anywhere on your own time.

VIII, no contest. Even with all its flaws, it managed to make much more impact than IX ever did to FF series as a whole. Truly deserved a remake instead of being lay off in the dust with occasional appearing cameos.

As much as I liked tetra master it was also frustrating. I think FF8 would benefit more from a remake. I like FF9 the way it is anyway.

Ok, as I see nobody more is voting, we have...
1 vote for FFIX
7 votes for FFVIII.

Well... that is something.
Of course this is a very little sample. But... coming from a retro forum, and the fact I never see people demanding a FFVIII remake, while that rumor of a FFXI Remake appears from time to time, it seems surprising...

I cannot remember a single time a rumor of a Remake (even a weak rumor) for FF8. Meanwhile, in the last years, FF9 was almost constantly speculated to have a Remake, and videos in youtube fantasizing with one (I could be wrong, but those are the inputs I had).

Do you believe there is some reason a FFVIII Remake IS NEVER on the bets to get a Remake (remake, not a "simple remaster") by SE?

Reminds me of their other gacha, FF7 The First Soldier. I don't hate this because I actually have fun with their mobile games, but I strongly dislike this, because eventually it's going to poof and disappear like so many of the others. Ugh.

Nothing special but recently I finished achievement hunting FF1 PR. I'm going to move onto FF2 PR soon.

Even worse how they killed their only good mobile game (Opera Omnia) to make this garbo looking thing.
Opera Omnia wasn't the only good one. They also killed Nier ReIncarnation, Brave Exvius and War of the Visions. Those games kicked ass. And before those we lost All The Bravest, First Soldier and many others. I really wish Square would make multiple Mobile Collections so we can play these games again.

Ah true, I was only talking about Final Fantasy games so I can't speak for stuff like the Nier game as I haven't played any of them, but Opera Omnia was the only one I ever enjoyed, but it was also like the best mobile-only game I ever played, so even then I'm like super biased haha
I had a super powerful Wakka I had enhanced like crazy, and I never even spent a dime on the game!

All The Bravest was probably one of the worst games I've ever played, though... ::sailor-embarrassed

I liked Final Fantasy Dimensions.
It was a bit of a nostalgia bait but if you like the 8 and 16 bit Final Fantasies then its more of that.

As a nearly 50yr old gamer who has been playing Final Fantasy since the very first one on NES, I'd say FF9. No doubt. It's not my favorite, but it's in the top 5 of Square's FF series, at least. It's a classic style FF game with white/black/blue mages, monks, knights, and dragoons. Plus it has some of the best music and art of the entire series as well. Very easy pick.

Though really, if I had a REAL wish, I'd wish that FF 6 was made completely in 3D, but kept turn-based, and a special extra episode would be added at the end that would involve a new threat to face. That would be my real preference.

seeing how they did FF7 remake. I don´t want any remake because then I will be forced to pay 3 times more than I paid for the original and have to wait several years to finish it. So no thanks Fuck Square.
