I did see this is a 90GB game on Switch 2, and is only a game key card or digital download. So, you will need to dedicate like a third of the Switch 2's default storage for this no matter what.

That's more my issue with Nintendo and not the game itself, though ::cirnoshrug
Daaaaaamnnnn, then I think they need to reduce size of the game a lot but IDK how they can keep this up considering the game is made of 3 parts. Then Nintendo can come up with this idea:

So the game has part 2 that is also huge AF but at least some of the assets are same assets as part 1. So my idea is imagine you can insert game cartridge of part 2 into part 1 so part 2 using assets from part 1 and thus you save space + this can enable additional hardware power if Switch 2 suck ass about it. It's costy but very useful idea!!!

*he goes to Nintendo to sell this idea but they sue him* lolol

"Game key card or digital download" ... where are we getting to ... please stop this physical massacre game devs ::nervous-prinny

Well, whip out another 120+ Dollerydoos for the 512 <Or 256 i dunno which it can use don't care> GB microSD Express card for your Switch 2.

I am honestly surprised that Nintendo still lets the end user use standard storage mediums like SD type cards, and didn't pull a Sony with the proprietary Memory Stick Duo stuff with the PSP/Vita

is it just me, or did the switch 2 version look clearer and more colorful than the ps5 version?
Beyond how Youtube fucks up "quality" of the video regardless quality options I noticed Switch 2 version has lower contrast ratio but it didn't dimish light level at all, they probably basically ensured decent balance of lower contrast -> more vibrant colors -> higher light level -> not too low black level

PS5 version looks higher contrast ratio -> saturation and vibrance is lower -> light levels are probably lower -> black levels possibly higher.

It may be subtle difference but more noticable in dark areas and shadow to light differences.

Edit: Very obvious here:

You can even notice her clothes and his hair has saturation difference, Switch 2 one has more emphasised colors.

game key card::sadkirby
And that's another thing....

When the Switch 2 store eventually gets the plug pulled, and you know it will, unless you have a backup of your games or have lost the key cards, well, I guess you're just Shit out of luck. Oh, I'm sure Nintendo will gladly resell it to you at full price again, no doubt. This basically is killing the resell market too. I assume once the key card is used, that's it's locked to that account with no way to get the game on another system, even if you remove it from your account.

They are just selling you digital download codes, that's all. Thanks, I'll stick to not buying into Nintendo's shit.

Though it's not just them... all companies are going full digital, so you can't lay the hate and blame solely on Nintendo.
It's a money-saving cost for them, even though they still charge out the wazoo for their mediocre games.

I mean, not proprietary per se but you do need some fancy shmancy new SD card for the Switch 2. I couldn't use the Knuckles the Echidna SD card I have in my current Switch, for example

yeah, i noticed that in the side by side comparison part of the video. the small adjustments made the switch version look better.

Right I get that. But it's not like Sony, and you have to buy it directly from Nintendo.

It's becoming a more standard storage medium. So, points to Nintendo on that. 1 point anyhow for not being a total shit company like Sony was again with their MSD cards.

In all honesty, Nintendo probably just didn't think of it at the time.

I'm not sure. I've heard that you can resell a game key card and be fine, but Nintendo can detect when something is up and have supposedly banned Switch 2 consoles, so my thought is why wouldn't/couldn't they do the same for game key cards?

Considering Remake was a game originally made for PS4s it isn't as all surprising it is able to run well on a Switch 2. I'm sure some improvements were made to presentation for the Intergrade release on PS5, but its still mostly a PS4 game on the base. Now Rebirth on the other hand, that's a game I'm really interested to see get going on Switch 2. The game already had some performance issues and ran at a really low res on PS5, so shrinking it down further will be quite the challenge.

No, game key cards don't lock anything to a specific account. Basically the cart has no data aside from giving the digital store permission to start a download for the game it is for. Even after the download, you still need the cart inserted into your system to play the game. It is similar to how you still need your disc to be in the system on PS4/PS5 or Xbox One/Series despite the game getting installed to your hard drive.

You can resell it or lend it to a friend just fine and I'm sure the Switch 3 will be just as backwards compatible as the Switch 2 is. Pretty much every console that releases from here on out needs to be endlessly backwards compatible. To make sure its clear, the key card could be used on 100 switch 2s and all of them would be able to download the game. Only the system with the cart inserted would be able to play the game though.

Game key cards suck ass, but for Nintendo's cartridge based media it was unfortunately inevitable that their physical releases would start to suck. They're in the 4k era now and we've reached a point where games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Cyberpunk 2077 are so big they don't even fit on a single blu-ray. Inevitably Nintendo wouldn't be able to manufacture cartridges for 100+gb games without them costing absurd amounts. Then we'd be right back in the SNES era where some games randomly cost triple digits physically.

Companies have clearly been trying to push an all-digital future on us for the past 12 years now and this is just another big step forward for that agenda. Truly depressing, but inevitable with how these companies wanna run their business. My best advice is to do the sensible thing and just put CFW on your system and just rely on backups the moment the successor to your system comes out. Switch 2 releases? CFW on Switch time. PS5 releases? Time to pay close attention to the PS4 CFW scene. It doesn't replace being able to resell games if you're someone that frequently trades stuff in, but it's the best we got and for the most part it just demands a little more patience from you to get access to all the games you want.

I am curious to what challenges they talk about. This game was released for PS4, so Switch 2 is supposed to have no issues running it.

Maybe they are trying to run the game higher than 1080p?

As the dude explained the challenge is about handheld mode.

Switch consoles 101: Their hardware always works underclocked due to whatever Nintendo care about their console enough to sacrifice maximum raw power, so in handheld mode it's way more underclocked therefore its performance gets so lowered in handheld mode.

If the game can't run ok in handheld mode society backlash will be too much -> they will blame Square Enix -> they will blame Nintendo. That's why Nintendo wouldn't allow them to release the game in a way its handheld performance is shit, they would ask them to downgrade the graphics instead.

But as the dude explained they are too stubborn on not wanting to downgrade graphics even for handheld mode. This is a life and death honour situation for them and that's why it's a "challenge". Otherwise even any granma can downgrade the game into Atari 2600 mode and call it a day for handheld mode but Square Enix is pushing to the limit to danger zone of exploding Switch 2 because of "too much power needed" yo lol.

Yeah, they try to recreate the PS5 game instead of PS4 one. I saw the PS4 version and it looks very good, and Switch 2 in handheld mode is like a PS4 more or less.

No wonder as Switch 2 is about the same power as a PS4 and not even PS4 pro. The PS4 had issue with FF7 remake and there is a reason they released Rebirth for PS5 and not the PS4
Even Boring lands 4 has been put on hold because they can´t make it run well on Switch 2.

Yeah graphics may not be everything but if you charge 449.99 for a damn console that can´t barely run allot of modern game then why bother with that console just get a PS5 or a PC or Series X that can handle all does game.

The only reason to get a switch 2 which is honestly a shitty reason it´s the play over expensive exclusives.

You should underestimate the power of Switch 2!!! In docked mode it's slightly more powerful than PS4 but I couldn't decide if I can say it's slightly more powerful than PS4 Pro, so in handheld mode it would be between PS3 - PS4? Kinda like that lol. But perhaps I should listen to you and drop my Sega war veteran glasses and think that Switch 2 uses modern hardware so its weak ass hardware is at least educated to do better job "smartly" so even in docked mode like you said it may beat PS4 at least.

The key here is their stubbornness on optimization without obvious graphical downgrade. However it's good for them to learn because thanks to Nintendo the whole industry get backs into ancient knowledge of optimization due to extreme technical limitations because Nintendo is too stubborn on keeping with low quality shit lol.

*old school developers developing games for a Nintendo console* "it been 3 decades since I had to use data-oriented design, fixed-point math, bank switching, bit packing, memory overlaying, indexed addressing and contextual memory reuse methods to optimize a game!!!" lolol

Well, the good side of loving retro is that even original Switch graphics make me freak out :D. As long as a console can render super famicom - ps1 graphics, I am more than happy. Otherwise I would not find many indie games lovely :)

Honestly, I think I prefer the harsher lighting abked into the textures in the switch version. it feels like it's more clear whre the focus should be in the shots. other than that preference i don't really see a difference in the side by side.

Yes. "Which one looks more appealing" can be subjective but I can say Switch one is the proper way partly because of what you said. This is like basics of Painting 101, this is how visual art is done (but it could be better).

As for PS5 version, I don't know about the console to figure out why graphics looks like that but perhaps I can make an educated guess. The new technology shit they use like frame generating and smoothing edges of the objects and all may possibly make the whole screen look like my t-shirts my momma washed a lot lol. Either way clearly Switch 2 graphics doesn't ruin visual art 101 stuff.

it could be that there's a lot of leaning on Rayman tracing and engine lighting effects on PS4 to create a more "natural lighting" effect, and since it's not there on switch they go back to the tried and true methods. That's just a theory though, I don't have a ps5 (or care enough to know it's capability) to be able to accurately guess. I only have switch and PC this generation because that gets me access to every game near enough.

Yeah, I didn't like it either. Too "clean" for me, I like more the pixel art from the original
