Final fantasy IV Job System Mod

Ahh okay, the hack I was talking about is Unprecedented Crisis (I know the thread is about a different hack, but I'm just leaving this here).

i think i have this one; i checked my collection and i have a game titled ff 4 crisis. it might be the same one. i'll have to check and see.

i do have this hack. i named it "crisis" when patching it some time ago. must have been lazy.
@RageBurner so, cecil stays a dark knight in this hack? that'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

hmm... you should be perfectly fine with that set up. do you have access to ice 3 or at least ice 2?
I'll try it again tonight. I know Black Mage has Ice 2 and Sage might or might not have Ice 3.

ice 2 should be good enough. cagnazzo is weak to ice in the other versions of the game. i don't know if that was changed here, but most likely not.

Readme has no such details at all, just checked. Also small rant: people need to stop using old localizations and outdated terminology as hack bases.

played some more of the hack. i'm at the antlion's den now.
found an interesting bug. [i think it's a bug; and no, i don't want it taken out; it will be very helpful to have it] if you are dashing out of a town or dungeon, you retain that speed in the overworld. you can zoom super fast to your next destination, and it doesn't go away if you get into a battle.
regular party members don't join up with you; they give you their job instead. and the main 5 characters don't leave your party after joining; so the octopus boss went down rather faster than normal from this. it'll be interesting to see if later bosses are adjusted for this.
some of the dungeons and towns have minor adjustments to them. the bridge in the ending part of the waterfall cave has been moved down; hidden paths are visible. the throne room in castle damcyan has a throne and a doorway off to its side. you can't go through, but it does make the place seem bigger than the original.
got a couple of more screenshots:

kain has a rather nice hp stat.

rydia grew up rather fast between kaipo and the kingdom of damcyan trip. by a good 60 years it looks like. i guess tellah really was her mentor for the short time that he was with the team. i guess the wiki was right about that.
Actually the run in map is part of the intended changes. It's on the readme.
Glad people are having fun with this.

i didn't see it in the readme. didn't see a link for a file like that, and i didn't see it in the summary section on the page; but i did learn about that from a npc in the training room.
i was playing a little bit ago and i've reached mysida. going to level up a bit so all of my characters are level 15 before i head to mt ordeals.

played some more of the game; just cleared mt ordeals. got some more screenshots.
saw a little, probably not a glitch, but it is quite interesting:

cecil stays a dark knight for the rest of the game, it seems.
and this one is kind of special. i have some stories that i'm working on, and this is probably the closest that i've ever come to recreating a class that i came up with for a few characters; a dark paladin:

Job Surprises
wasn't expecting this cameo:

i guess the wind carried him pretty far way from home. also, the name of the enemy seems to reflect the current job cecil has. i removed his equipment out of habit.
and the next new job after rosa's ranger job; time wizard:

next, off to the kingdom of baron.

Yeah, sprites are shared among jobs and the palette indicates the character using it (similarly to FF1 and FF3. Sadly there are no duplicate jobs, so I couldn't get my Dark Knight party going.

yeah, i saw that while i was learning how to swap jobs, i wasn't expecting sprites from another final fantasy game though. that was a nice surprise and now i'm more eager to see what else is in store with the jobs. there's supposed to be a hidden job that you purchase at some point in the game, according to an npc in the training room

another update. i've now gotten to the end of the first 3rd of the game. three more bosses and i enter the underworld next.
i was wondering how the bosses would be after mt ordeals, since most would be designed around the player having 4-5 characters at various times. they might get more difficult later on.
cagnazzo was slightly harder than usual. he has debuffs now, and he, for the most part, stopped me from beating him too quickly with his water barrier; though he would have lived longer if he didn't go into his shell. took him out with 1 ice-2 spell; a full 1-5 of his health gone with that and the battle ended.
i don't recall the last time that i beat him with my party under level 20. a good boss fight.
i explored the last bit of the overworld for stuff, found enemies in treasure chests that were tougher than the elemental lords of earth and water, got some weapon and armor upgrades. there's a shop selling the monster summon drops. got the expensive job in the game, costs 30,000 to get it. haven't checked it out fully but it seems pretty unique so far. i did find some rather unusual items in a couple of the towns. all armor pieces, but they don't seem like they would be useful when you can get access to them.
can't wait to see what i find in the next section of the game.
