NDS Favorite Nintendo DS or 3DS Games

I try to only pick 1 game each system but man. DS and 3DS had so many games I love.
So for DS I'd have to pick Pokemon Platinum. I actually haven't played it till recently when BDSP came out for Switch and had only played Diamond. (I got BD btw) I decided to buy Platinum though since I hear it's so good and just figured what the hay. Was surprised that I hit the 100+ hr mark without even finishing all the content. Honorable mention goes to Kirby Squeak Squad.

3DS though. Is such an easy pick. Metroid Samus Returns. Played that like A TON when it came out. Still play it occasionally. Honorable mention goes to Fire Emblem Fates since it's a game I sorely miss the community with and the fact that it was a good game despite it's flaws and I enjoyed the time of memes and discussion with it. Sigh

Etrian Odyssey 1 has left a permanent mark on my soul, it's nice to see the series get some love here. I like Untold 1 but it is not a complete replacement for EO1. Jank game but I replay it more than I probably should. The entire series is good as well.
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 is great, even if it is easier then its predecessors.
The Shiren games on DS are pretty fun, just started DS2 after figuring out it has an english translation earlier this year.
The DS Castlevanias are great, barring the touchscreen gimmicks in Dawn.

On the DS I would say Dragon quest IX it was the first Dragon quest game that I played and after that I grew to love the franchise. Another one that I really like its Transformers Decepticons not only the story it's a very good what if to the 2007 movie but it's also one of the few "sandbox" games on the DS and in the case of the 3DS I would say Stella Glow (I still have pending the Luminous Arc games)

megaman zx - zx advent (also zero collection)
sonic rush & rush adventure
smt, devil survivor
flower, sun and rain
kirby super star
pokemon platinum
/ and as for 3DS, azure striker gunvolt 1&2

For the DS
Pokemon Soul Silver (if I had to pick a single Pokemon game)
Advance Wars Days of Ruin
Kirby Squeak Squad
Scribblenauts

For the 3DS
Kid Icarus Uprising
Fire Emblem Awakening
Bravely Default
Senran Kagura 2
Ever Oasis

The DS family are such special consoles and I think the actual time Nintendo's "experimental" phase actually payed off. A shame so many games they had are overlooked but I think that's slowly being fixed over time.

They made a 40k game for the DS?
The PSP I get, but I didn't think they would try their hand for the DS.

Rune Factory 3, its Harvest Moon but better, in fact i can't go back to any harvest moon or Stardew Valley, its just feel so simple in comparasion, i can just level up every stat of farming, cocking, magic or combat to max if i want.

I don't have any experience with the 3DS yet (I want to, in the future), but the NDS is one of my favorite consoles ever, with 3 out of my top 5 games in general being from the DS!

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
There is no shortage of good Castlevania tittles for the NDS and I really do like every single one, but out of the three, my favorite is Dawn of Sorrow. I lost count of how many times I played this thing, and everytime is a great experience. Even better nowadays with the awesome randomizer.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
The NDS version of DQV is easily my favorite DQ ever. I do believe it's a great way to jump into the franchise if you are curious about it, but don't want to play everything right of the bat, you can see a lot of the charm alongside great exploration and a amazing story.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor
For SMT is a bit harder to decide, but it's fair to say my third favorite game out of the console is the first Devil Survivor. SMT has a lot of solid tittles over multiple platforms, but Devil Survivor has the best mood out of all and I really like the tactical spin they gave to the battles. Altought Devil Survivor 2 and Strange Journey are equally amazing games, Devil Survivor had me actually go back and play it multiple times for the different endings, something all the other games didn't do it for me.

i have a few faves but if I had to list a top 5 for both consoles it would be as follows

For the Nintendo DS:
1.) Chrono Trigger
2.) Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky
3.) Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story
4.) Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
5.) Either Fossil Fighters Champions or Spectrobes Beyond the Portals

For the 3DS
1.) Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
2.) Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity (Personal favorite pokemon game overall as well
3.) The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
4.) Fire Emblem Awakening
5.) Metroid Samus Returns

I know I played a ton of other games more often, but Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors completely engrossed me on a particularly depressing round trip I once took, and made the whole experience more bearable. The right story for the right time, has to be my answer.

DS :
Kirby Super Star Ultra
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword (Playing in real console was fun experience)
Castlevania Ordem of Ecclesia
Taiko no tatsujin
Ragnarok DS

3DS :
Fantasy Life (really love this game)
Pokémon Moon
Kirby Planet Robobot
Super Mario 3DLand
Kid icarus uprising

NDS:
Kirby Mass Attack
Radiant Historia
Summon Night X - Tears Crown
Ghost Trick
Dragon Quest IX
Etrian Odyssey IIl
Shin Megami Tensei - Strange Journey
Among many others...

3DS:
Kid Icarus Uprising
TLOZ - A Link Between Worlds
(I had few games on 3ds...)

for NDS

- FFTA2 Grimoire of the Rift
i love the rich lore of the game and for me personally, a game with rich lore (including an item description) means the developer is truly serious in the making.
- Dragon Quest IX Sentinel of Starry Skies

for 3DS
- Digimon redigitize
this is how a digital world game should be done (although still cannot match the vibe of digimon 2003)
- SMT Strange Journey Redux
my first entry for Atlus' demon summoning games
- Fantasy Life
same reason w/ FFTA 2, and really addicting
Rune Factory 4
although sadly, we cannot woo Ms Lin Fa
MGS 3
Ace Combat AH Legacy

outside of the ds/3ds era pokemon games which imo are some of the best, Izuna legend of the unemployed ninja was probably the game i replayed the most! it having a reboot announced was exciting and unexpected

DS: advance wars dual strike, Mario kart Ds, CTGP Nitro, and Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam

3DS: Mario and luigi Dream team, Mario kart 7, and New super Mario Bros 2
all my favs::biggrin::biggrin

Sadly i am Broke enought to not be able to get a 3DS or a machine good enought to emulate without becoming touched by Killer Queen, but in 2021 i recieved for Xmas the best gift: a DSi with TWLmenu, so let's go

Anno Dawn of Discovery: Awkard name in Spanish speaking countries, but still a good strategy game
Izuna duology: want a Dungeon Crawler outside the Mystery Dungeon label? this ninja themed roguelike got you covered
Etrian Odyssey II: While the first one is okay by itself, it has stuff that aged terribly, stuff that its sequel fixes at the cost of nitpicky ones
Sonic Rush Duology: The best Sonic experiences with the best Wai... i mean companion that is Blaze
Megami Tensei - Strange Journey: The actual first Megaten i played and oh boy, far from easy, a good entry level game next to 4/ 4A
Final Fantasy IV: Sorry, this was meant to be your place, but Moogle mail being more accesible made me pick you on PSP, IV on DS on the other hand adds stuff unique to this console, as in not even Final Years has the content, adding extra challenge and more replayability
AND LASTLY...
Zelda Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass: it may bring the ire of Ikaruga, but i actually enjoy Vanilla controls, some misteps aside, the controls work greatly on DS and they add inmersiveness to the experience, played the D-pad versions, but it wasn't the same, with touch however, it feels like playing YS 1 & 2 on PSP, and oh boy i love those games

Stella Glow for the 3DS. That one quickly became one of my favorites.

Infinite Space
Ghost Trick
Fantasy Life
Rune factory 1-4
Bravely Defult
Mighty Switch Force
Mighty Switch Force 2
The legend of Zela A link between worlds
Pokemon alpha sapphire
MegaMan ZX Advent
MegaMan ZX
Shin megami tensei: Devil survivor
Shin megami tensei: Strange journey
Atelier Annie Alchemist of Sera Island
Castlevania - Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania - Portrait of Ruin
Castlevania - Order of ecclesia

Love these game allot.
