Favorite Intros?

It was this intro, which I had seen on a TV show, that made me buy the game. Unfortunately, the game itself didn't entirely convince me and I never finished it. But the music is so great that when they did a remake, they redid everything but this music :
Wild Arms - PS1 - Opening -

This intro is still so impressive, some say it's even better than the game itself :
Ghost in the Shell PS1 Intro - High Quality

And these 2 are perfect for the 16-bit era, setting the mood with great music :
Axelay - SNES - Intro

BioMetal [SFC/SNES] Japanese and US/European Intros

The animation studio, Blur Studios, hit it outta the park with the Dawn of War intro.
An intro so good people wanted a third person Warhammer action game, and we ended up with a few of those.

I'm a bit biased in this regard but this is still giving me shivers even after almost 25 years:

The intro of Phantasy Star Online from 2000 (on the Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox and PC)

The intro for Forsaken was so cool as a kid, i used to show it to my friends because it was so brutal! ::eek

its still good if you can appreciate the cheesiness ::biggrin

pumped up eh? how about instead: so freakin hopeless and depressed that I'll do anything my (newly assigned by the game) superiors tell me just for the slightest sense of purpose their delirious confidence can afford.

or another favorite of mine: dreadful anticipation of eldritch horrors presented in a dry matter of fact fashion, like "you are going to go through this and you are going to be scarred"

I'm going to go with the opening of persona 5 royal and the opening of a game I found recently final fantasy type-0

A lot of great stuff and classics posted here. I almost feel like western game openings would deserve their own thread though. Japan just kills it when it comes to these.

here's a cool western one, i think its a really good intro :)
but the game itself is clunky and annoying with terrible hit detection and camera angels that get you killed all the time. but i still love the game XD
