Dark Souls could be considered a RPG? i thought that was something like a Hack and Slash
@BrawlMan check this out lol.
Dark Souls is an action-RPG. You could play it like a "hack n' slash" depending on your build, or specific mods on PC. Even then, people go to
Dark Souls III for that feeling, since it plays like a modified version of
Bloodborne. The closest From Software ever got with a hack n' slash is
Sekiro. Though it is a legit action game and hack n' slash. It's just not arcade style, and no score ranking.
Sekiro is pretty much their answer to
Metal Gear Rising.
As for my pick(s):
Streets of Rage 4 and
Shredder's Revenge's bonus rouge-like modes got me somewhat interested in a rouge-like brawler hybrid.
Double Dragon Gaiden is the only actual rouge-like/brawler game, and not a bonus mode, that kept me coming back for more and is the best one of its kind on both ends. The constant free updates and bonus for three years now help tremendously. Unlike other full rouge-likes, you're not sent back to the beginning of your run/stage automatically, and can continue where you left off, so long as you and/or the other play have the cash to continue. You can make the game as easy or as difficult as you want.
Ghost of Tsushima and
Ghost of Yotei are pretty much the best
Assassin's Creed games ever made. There is not much reason to play the
AC games anymore, but I stopped caring after
Brotherhood. I heard
The Saboteur is pretty good too, but I never held any interest in the game.
The
Crysis games are pretty much the better versions of
Far Cry, and feel more like true sequels to the first game, and
Instincts, than any of the numbered sequels. Though I do favor
FC Instincts, Crysis 2, and
Crysis 3 over
Crysis 1.
hen I played Stellar Blade for PC, a game I was following closely since it was known as Project EVE during development by Shift-Up back 2018, before NIKKE blew up like it did. I played it, and frankly? It kinda switched a part of my brain I did NOT know existed. Since then... I look at them more favorably.
However, still wish Tenchu got another chance along with Otogi...
Stellar Blade is more of a
Sekiro and
Lies of P clone than
Dark Souls. The fandoms of
Lies of P and
Stellar Blade get along spectacularly well.
