DOOM THREAD

Been playing Doom since I was a toddler and it always scared the absolute shit out of me. Have much love for Chex Quest and I'll often bust it out (very excited that the Bethesda Doom+Doom 2 collection has it in the mods section).
I can understand why the 2D demons could be scary. I need to do Chex 3 someday.

I think one of the most impressive total conversions that I've seen is Memoirs Of Magic by strawberryoctopus
I remember that one Total Conversion because one character is apparently in another fangame.

I remember playing Doom 64 for the first time years ago (long before the Nightdive port) and it certainly brought back memories of being too scared to play it at some points. I'd even argue that it's better at the horror/atmosphere aspect than the original two Doom games

Every time I see this I have to wonder what the hell is up with that hairline. I feel like I'm not really seeing what the artist intended here.
A futuristic buzz cut?

Now we joke how doom can run in pretty much everything, but back in the 90's it was a very intensive game, the good old 386 couldn't run the game that well, you needed at least a 486, those systems used to be quite expensive back in the day
It's a running joke. Well, it's such an old joke that it's on a walker at this point, honestly.
We need to change it from "Can it run DOOM" to "Can it run Cyberpunk 2077 without glitches"

Recently I've updated my Sourceports (DSDA Doom, Crispy, Chocolate) and even added new ones like Woof and Nyan Doom.

I've also felt nostalgic and installed old school yet discontinued ones like ZDoom and PrBoom+.

I liked to use ZDL (especially since Crispy isn't drag 'n drop) but Doom Runner is pretty much its successor with even better options to choose from. I still wish DSDA Launcher was included in the executable.

GZDoom is basically noob level of using wads and mods since you just need to drag and drop what you need into the executable but I also am not nerdy enough to properly use a .bat or shortcut with -commands in it...

Also it's perfect for deciding the order of your pwads.

Got into a pretty solid death match in the bethesda Doom 1+2 release yesterday.

I highly recommend these 2 DOOM WADs together. Some of the most fun I've had in a while

Only beat (not 100% for every secrets and nook and cranny ofc) the og 1993 Doom and Doom 64, but I did tried all the main ones except Dark Ages.
Maybe it's blasphemous to say, but I found Doom II more the samey unlike Doom 64 (even if some levels there were not that great, but still a very fun game). I should definitely keep with 2016 and Eternal.

There are also Rocket Launcher and Doom Explorer that are nice launchers.

How's the ping and gameplay compared to Odamex, Zdaemon or Zandronum?

I don't know what Diamond Dragon is but I'll check it out.

Auger; Zenith is great, I need to check other stuff from the same team/mappers.

I love how it's just Limit Removing, I kinda want to see more modern megawads being just that (or Boom compatible) without the crazy stuff ZDoom has added. Sometimes I appreciate the simplicity of a wad that doesn't delve too far from Doom.

Honestly I have only 100%-ed Doom's first episode but I don't feel like doing UVMax for the entire saga.

Dark Ages is the first time Doom hasn't hyped me up sadly.

Doom 64 is extended from Doom II which itself is an expansion of Doom.

That's not blasphemous when the games are similar.

I need to do The Ancient Gods Part 1&2 soon.
