I am still a young man myself but lately I have the urge to read a book for whatever reason. Recently I thought I was getting old because many people say that reading books is just getting older or some losers but of course that's just nonsense that's not true reading a book can't hurt your education. Or what do you all think about something like this are books only for old people or should every age group deal with something like this ? Let your thoughts run free and say what you personally think about it ?

I don't know if i still count as young, but i do read a lot.

One problem is, that the ever decreasing attention span of people (blame Social Media), makes it difficult to concentrate on something like a book, for an extended period of time.

Another problem, is that in general, schools suck at getting kids to want to read, reading the greats is good and all, but for a kid or a teenager, is boring.

For me for example, I wasn't a big reader, until I found the genres I liked, by complete coincidence, no one ever recommend Pulp, nor Military Fiction to me, it was me stumbling upon them and falling in love with the genres.

I think there is no age limit for reading books but yes, many people just find that kind of thing too uncool and you can forget about schools nowadays the teachers are only concerned with themselves rather than dealing with students somehow everything is just a sad story without a happy ending .

Currently i am 21 Years Old, i should be 22 in August, honestly i don't know if i can call myself young nowadays (like seriously Social Media and many Colleagues in my Campus makes me feel Ancient when talking about stuff with them like dayum)

But i still like Reading Book, though to be fair the amount of times that i spend to read a book is definitely less than the times i spent for Video Games for example, though in this case i guess it can't be helped.

My Book Collection right now is mostly Japanese's Light Novel like a lot of them, and i definitely still read them, non-JP Stuff probably my Sherlock Holmes' Collection.

If you're conflicted by being called Old or else because reading a book please don't be, the medium is great, there's many great series you can read from, you won't regret it.

This is only my personal opinion though, throughout ages and times, the stigma against a Medium will always existed especially if it's a new form of Medium, like there's still many people that said Video Games can't be arts nowadays, if you're focusing on those too much, it just gonna hurts your brain, it ain't worth it.

I guess what i'm trying to say is Book is ROCKS! Just do whatever dude.

That sounds good you have a mature attitude .

People less read because there is to much data and people don't have much time to care about of them.
Using phones made people impatient and sometimes they think reading is waste of time!
Some time books become boring and people lately like draws and visual things.
but if you like a book, you won't get tired from it and will keep reading. Writers should write to keep readers happy and don't use heavy words and too much words.
As they say "say Less but important!" A good small note from a book can be better than 3 books with a lot of unnecessary or heavy contents.

Books, or literature, is a form of self-expression. Books are not products that are made to keep customers happy, they are written to create art.
That's right but people lately rather to read things made them happy.
I accept they write for art,but people like to skip a lot of part of this art lately.

One look at the selection in a book store is enough to answer that question for you.
There's just as many books aimed at children, teenagers, and young adults, as there were when I was a kid. If anything, there might be more.

So yeah, I think it's safe to say that plenty of people still read.

I'd like to think that that's the case, given that my two favorite childhood authors (Angela Sommer-Bodenburg, Wendelin van Draanen) keep writing them.

I'm actually surprised by the amount of established authors that are either starting to turn to the Young Adult genre (James Patterson) or base their entire careers on it (Jeanine Garsee, Sierra Elmore; Laurie Halse Anderson, Salla Simukka...).

That's a good sign.

Interesting what you write, nice that there are still people in the world who know how to talk .

Well they look already at a VHS tape as if it was a Relique, but jokes aside I am sure there are still some youngsters who read Books but most probably prefer EBooks or Just Plain and Simple Videos over long Text.
