Well I mostly made the characters have their own personality like a actor I choose of what personality for character and role with it.

Idk if it counts as self insert but I try to think what I would do int he same situation as the character

And I don't think self inserting on a female character will make you gay calm down my man lol

Usually I use my username in the character, or if the game have a customize characters I usually make a character very similar to myself

Bayonetta, Parasite Eve, The capcom one where you have a dog that I can never remember),
tomb raider, Bayonetta again (because she kicks so much ass), RE9, RE5, RE all of them.

Let's chalk it up to mis-communication.

I usually create characters that are as far removed from myself as possible when playing games. Why play as myself when I can RP as all these other cool different characters of my choosing? :)

I also don't have a problem role-playing as a set character. As long as the writing or the scenario is good enough, or they're enough of a blank slate, I can fill their shoes pretty easily I find.

It's actually pretty rare I try to play as myself. Except in something like Fable or Mass Effect I guess.

G'dang this got weird. Can I take a moment to remind everyone we should be here talking about games. Someone's gayness or non shouldn't matter (yes I know OP started with that) some people just aren't comfortable yet with their orientation. But we can still love them as gamers.
