Do You Self Insert In Games?

Not really, but I make a ton of characters based on ones from my favorite books -- in fact, my entire Baseball 9 squad (including bench and bullpen) is made out of main and side characters from my favorite works of fiction.

Not exactly. Kinda rarely. With FFXIV I used to since my main character is based off me but as I’ve gotten older so has he and he’s become more of an extension of myself rather than just purely “me”. Fun fact, I’ve given him a slightly aged face compared to his original face since I’ve been playing FFXIV for so long. For some games with really good character creators like Nioh 2, sometimes I do make a character that looks like me and see myself in that position. But yeah in most cases it really depends on the game.

Nope, terrible idea, I'd probably laze around eating donut everyday, means if I self-insert as a hero with the fate of the world in my hands then we are all doomed.

I usually have sort of different rules depending on the genre! Sports games? Absolutely. If I'm playing an MLB The Show or FIFA or something, I'm for sure making digital-me. Sometimes I just want to make a fun character, though. I certainly didn't try very hard to make myself in Cyberpunk, ya know?

With (MMO)RPGs, and when given the choice, I usually play female characters actually. I haven't found that being straight nor male has impacted my enjoying of their romance plotlines, whatsoever.
