2017, actually.

I only ever lurked it but it was so good. Probably the only place online where you could go to the board for some random movie, no matter how old or obscure it was, and there would be a small community there discussing it.

And the trolls, so many trolls.

I could have sworn it was around 2015. We got the notifications and everything. I know, because I dropped off, left, and went straight to the Escapist forum. I could not go back to GameTrailers, because they shutdown around 2015 as well. Though they did restructure and become Easy Allies around 2016, and had a new forum. That eventually got shutdown in 2022, but Easy Allies still makes content and videos on YouTube. They prefer livestreaming chat and discord, but I will never touch the latter.

Yeah, the trolls could be a pain, but I mainly stuck around in the video game section.

There was one guy on the IMDB forums that ALMOST made me break my lurker status, though...

It was some dumb fuck who was always hijacking the threads for movies like Stalingrad and Das Boot and saying junk like: "I gave it a 1 because it's a German World War 2 movie and I don't care what they 'think' of it", without clearly having watched any of them.

The only thing stopping me was the fact that calling him out on his BS would also have been my very first couple of messages in there, and you tell me if me coming out of the woodworks screaming what amounted to "you son of shit face!" wouldn't have made ME the unhinged bitch that needed to be removed from the place XD

I have been using them since forever, and so have many of my other friends (online and IRL) — hell, I recently got back in touch with a friend of mine whose parents grounded her forever when they discovered she had joined one when they wouldn't allow it... Pretty sneaky for a tween during the Dial-Up era, I must say.

I think it was a local tabletop gaming community. I talked a lot of 40k tho, funnily enough, I had like 4 spaces marines since I didnt had money.
