My first starter Pokémon was a Charmander,I named it Char after Char Aznable ?My first own Pokémon game was a used copy of LeafGreen I bought in 2011 (CiB for 10 bucks. Those were the days...), but that time I didn't name my Pokémon anything, so I just had a female Venusaur named VENUSAUR, who I loved alot despite not getting a name.
Then I got HeartGold which became my all-time favorite Pokémon game and the one I played the very most, and I'm PRETTY sure I named my first starter (a Chikorita) after one of my little brothers, which was a tradition I kept for a good long while.
How about you?

That's a really nice name. The first time I named a Pokemon was in Sword, I got a Scorbunny and named it Apollo.
it was. the option is located at the bottom of the naming screen.I only remember giving pokemon the same names they already had, just all lowercase so it was easier to look at. Don't recall if that was an option going all the way back to red/blue
