Do you like catching shiny Pokemon?

It's always a treat when they show up on full odds, the first shiny I remember other than Gyarados was random encounter with Raticate on the same Silver save file. I didn't catch it but I remember it like it was yesterday. I do occasionally search for shinies but never in a hardcore way. Didn't do much shiny hunting until ORAS and then again in Legends Arceus, maybe because the chaining systems are very easy in both games.

Only if the odds are really low on encountering them. Catching is the easy part.

shinies were a mistake. n stuck in the past.

we cld hav infinite variations. modern pokemon shldnt b beholden 2 recolors from 90s hardware. we cld do sum kind of RNG mechanic tht givs us phat pikachus, long pikachus, slighlty orange n brown pikachus, gay pikachus, pikachus missin limbs or maybe a deformity or even pikachus w/ heads as big as urs. think abt it! how many varieties of ppl are there. animals don't all look the same. maybe a shelder cld pop up w/ a slightly crackd shell, or a weezings w/ diff #'s of disgusting tumor children. ah, teh possiblities!

shinies as they r now r glorified gamblin. esp in Go. wld it kill them to add more than one color? or even a fkn color edit option. let me dye my Lucario's pubes.

fk shinies. but also ... im currently grindan thru seaglass n obsessd w/ chaining @_@;;;

I personally avoid it. Though there are some shiny colors that are really nice, some games have extra effects when they come out in battle that really slow things down in the grand scheme. Plus, it would be nice if they had some statistical differences that made them more interesting to fish for.

Nah

Cool in concept, awful odds for something that literally only gives you a palette swap, some of them get worse as shiny like Golem, but the worst are those who barely if at all change anything

I do, but only for my absolute favourites. My favourite shiny is Milotic, that was the only one I liked enough to specifically hunt for. I always make a rule to use a shiny pokemon if I find one while playing casually though.

I agree with you that some Pokemon's shinies look gross.

yes is very relaxing to do hunts tho i hate making sanwiches for them.

me too thats how i found a full ods spoink when i started my playtrough.

I love it, even if it's a pokemon I don't like. Golduck for example. Got that guy in Sun and boy did I freak out.

I was trying to complete a quest in a pokemon hack called pokemon unbound, I was in a flower field trying to capture a pokemon that got honey from honeybees when a shiny cutiefly appears in front of my eyes, and it was pink and cute and I had to capture it and I succeeded and after completing the quest I took this pink cutiefly with me for the entire journey until it evolved and reached elite 4 and Then I stopped playing because I lost the will but I will never forget, and answering the question of this forum no I don't like to capture Shiny so much because it's time-consuming.

Weird story: I used to play a lot more Pokemon when I was younger. Never even encountered a shiny. That was until I decided to replay Emerald 3 years ago and found a shiny Poochyena on the first route. I named it "Whoa".

I used to be obsessed with all the details of how the RNG of each game worked in each scenario that could affect shiny Pokemon generation. Had hundreds across the Gen 3-5 games, all carefully listed like a gallery at one point, for anyone using Wi-Fi to request to trade me for. Unfortunately over time the no-fun-allowed Smogon crowd and my getting de-admined from a Pokemon forum killed a lot of the interest. Other people are better at teaching that now.

I did get a shiny dex of about 200 in Scarlet, that being said.

I agree that it can be time-consuming to try to catch shiny Pokemon or hopefully encounter them. I've encountered more shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet then any game that I played before it.
