Somewhat, only sports games and series' I've been playing nearly my whole life, new games just don't really appeal to me
Would highly suggest trying out Indivisible!I'm not a big fan of Modern games for reasons
-Graphics look to realistic
-Gameplay is too narrative and feels like a movie or a TV show than an actual game.
-Character designs are just generic real life human beings which ruins the imagination of video games as a whole.
The only thing with modern gaming I enjoy are games that have 2D art and callbacks from the 80s and 90s whether be pixelated or have colorful anime designs from a Super Nintendo game.
does it need to for you to enjoy it? I could say this for any medium
helpful would be worth putting on a spelling test.Modern games rarely have any helpful direction in them. You could find bits of helpful direction scattered between older games.
The 6th generation of consoles standardized the controls and mechanisms that are still used today, while everything that preceded it was still at the experimental, retro stage. From what year onwards its considered modern in the gaming world?
REALLY!? 6th gen is where you stopped!? I don't know, man. 7th gen (PS3, 360, Wii) has plenty of great stuff and was the last gen that was for the most part purely physical before the "You'll own nothing and be happy" digital only hellscape we live in now.In terms of console gaming the last generation that truly captivated me was the the sixth one. In the seventh one I enjoyed a few, the total counted with my fingers, that doesn't justify the investment in my book.
Even if i had the money for modern consoles(ps4 and beyond), there is an almost microscopic number of titles that interest me and most of those also appear on Pc, a decent Desktop is a far better investment in my book.
Here too, one birthday was Super Mario Bros. 2, I had that and the first one until I got SMB 3 for a Christmas. Rentals lol. Lot's of those. Sega Genesis w Streets of Rage 2 for a while. I think I got Batman Returns for the system, I can't recall any more for that system lol.to be a bit fair, it is kind of hard to care about something if you can't interact with it. i spent most of my life only getting a new game on my birthday or christmas, and then later when i became an adult, getting used games from gamestop and thrift stores and then the internet archive and other sites that i almost don't even think about new releases for systems unless i have the system.
when you can't afford it, it aggravates you to go and look at the new stuff, knowing that you can't get it. why put yourself through that? i forget that the ff7 remake exists most of the time because i don't have the new playstation systems.
and even when you have the money for it; you're not really getting anything in return. most of the game's budget is spent on graphics, and i've seen next gen games look like garbage in comparison to older games. most of the content is bland and generic. devs will tread the same ground over and over again.
hopefully the indie devs will start gaining even more momentum and can push to the top of the food chain. i've seen more games from those people that look interesting to play and are more reasonably priced than the mediocre slop the "AAA" industry can put out.
Age is not a criterion that defines and qualifies what is retro or not. People's ignorance and confusion have contributed to corrupting its real meaning.bro, since the last ps2 was made, like half the users on this forum have had ancestors that have walked the earth and died.
Online gaming and Internet were a mistake.REALLY!? 6th gen is where you stopped!? I don't know, man. 7th gen (PS3, 360, Wii) has plenty of great stuff and was the last gen that was for the most part purely physical before the "You'll own nothing and be happy" digital only hellscape we live in now.
Dreamcast, GameCube, and PS2 all had internet modem expansions.Online gaming and Internet were a mistake.
Not to be old but back in 2001, I got hooked on a Diablo game, the first, on a PC in an Apt I moved into, I mean up all the time playing it. When Diablo II came out, I mean, I grabbed it first day. So they got me there but yeah if you've got plenty of good stuff in front of you, then wait. I'm currently finding older stuff I didn't know existed as I go back in time instead.by then, it might be on sale, so you'll save money on it and then you can add it to the backlog. and it should also hopefully have all of its patches and updates rolled out as well.
so, it's kind of a better idea to wait a bit before purchasing a new release.
at the risk of sounding ignorant, confused, or whatever other pejorative you'd like to attach, I'm going to have to side with the rest of the world, RA, the dictionary, God, and this website, and go against your personal definition of retro gaming, especially since the sixth generation all use wired controllers, an implement that we have left behind in the dust as the stone-age tool it is. you may as well be piloting your console with a fire stick.Age is not a criterion that defines and qualifies what is retro or not. These consoles laid the foundations for the “we can patch it later” and "expansions packs" mindsetDreamcast, GameCube, and PS2 all had internet modem expansions.
First of all, this is not my personal opinion but an objective and elitist one. Citing sources like RA that use the same trophy mechanics that plague modern games doesn't add any credibility to what you're saying. Being retro is less about age and more about game design philosophy. The hallmarks of the 6th gen era hasn’t changed significantly aside from increased resolution and polygon count.at the risk of sounding ignorant, confused, or whatever other pejorative you'd like to attach, I'm going to have to side with the rest of the world, RA, the dictionary, God, and this website, and go against your personal definition of retro gaming, especially since the sixth generation all use wired controllers, an implement that we have left behind in the dust as the stone-age tool it is. you may as well be piloting your console with a fire stick.
