Do you also not care about modern games? And why?

i'm not a big fan of modern non-indie video games because
- i dislike the industry
- i dislike the conditions many devs are made to work in (crunch etc)
- i dislike how predatory microtransactions and loot boxes are
- i dislike how homogenised you get the point i am going to shut up now and make tea. i like final fantasy vii rebirth but that is because i am, as the younger generation says, a bitch. crow country is the peak of human civilisation. i prefer playing evergrace and illbleed on repeat ALL day. much love

Out, now.

Ok you can stay, but FFVII Remake is the epitome of everything that is bad with the current industry in a AAA scale.
I'm not a big fan of Modern games for reasons
-Graphics look to realistic
-Gameplay is too narrative and feels like a movie or a TV show than an actual game.
-Character designs are just generic real life human beings which ruins the imagination of video games as a whole.

The only thing with modern gaming I enjoy are games that have 2D art and callbacks from the 80s and 90s whether be pixelated or have colorful anime designs from a Super Nintendo game.
Honestly Graphics peaked with Doom(2016), MGSV and Arkham Knight, take a screenshot of any modern game that came out this or last year, barely any diference, artstyle used to matter in game design, not everything must look too realistic, want to see my take on realism, see pic related:

Also i wish modern devs learned once and for all that videogames are not movies, if the game has narrative is ok, BUT gameplay comes first, if i wanted to see my character walking miles upon miles while being fed the horrible stories in modern games, i could simply watch any old movie, in which, you know, THEY ACTUALLY EXPLAIN THE NARRATIVE WITHOUT BREAKING THE PACE OF THE WHOLE THING!

i am mildly confused, as i agree with your statement, but that statement is unrelated to rebirth
ffvii remake was not particularly good to me - the modern elements they added to a lot of the game were groan inducing (nearly all forms of gameplay padding that was added to the game was unenjoyable to me, filler fetchquests, slowly walking with npcs as they speak with you, lack of exploration, etc)
but given how far rebirth went out of its way to avoid the gameplay and structural flaws remake part 1 had, i am curious as to what your specific issues are with rebirth in particular

As with all remakes, they cutted basic stuff from the original OR repurposed them in a bad way, see "Cid the Taxi Driver" or "Vincent the boss encounter who's gonna be playable much latter, but not now because we became a shadow of the epitome of perfection that was Squaresoft and now we are a bunch of hacks that can only make seviceable stuff at best, or ruin old beloved stuff at worst, and like to tease our fans only to deliver a shitstorm when the time of the truth comes"

while i agree that cid and vincent not being playable until part 3 of the remakes is disappointing, i feel their exclusions do not cause the game to be a worse finished product as a whole
the exploration in rebirth is fantastic, with worthwhile secrets hidden everywhere, lots of difficult, optional combat encounters that unlock more and more materia, the materia system itself being far more deep than in remake part 1, each party member playing so differently - the experimentation in rebirth is off the charts in a very pleasant way to me
linearity and hand-holding has been toned down greatly, the revamped combat is much improved, the spirit of the original game's minigame obsession is represented strongly, the triple-triad style card game they added is a lot of fun, all the little unique character interactions in both the main quests and side quests - it really does feel like square let themselves make a game with a more unabashed silliness to it
i am more than fine with cid and vincent not being playable in rebirth when the rest of the game is this far improved - compared to rebirth, remake part 1 is absolutely an anaemic and weak release

When you don't like open world, souls-type, roguelites and loot boxes there isn't much to look forward in the AAA industry. Inflating prices, disk space and requirements are also a problem. Like I want to try the FF7 remake, but I don't have 200gb free space in my SSD nor do I think a single game is worth all that. My other problem is playtime. Games nowadays demand insane amounts of time, there's games like a 100h long and I really don't enjoy very long games.

THEN CONSIDER THIS MORE OMINOUS POSSIBILITY.jpg
I know there's good stuff in it, but i wish there was more than just a little extra and that's it, imagine if they implemented 3 player coop(which with the new style of battle gameplay could work), there's potential, but they barely have reached it.

Deltarune is the only modern game I truly care for

Yesn't

Indies aside, i rarely tend to play new games, however if i find a game like, regardless of release year, i will wait for the price to be reasonable and pick it

With the exception of Signalis, I don't think I've bought a new game in like half a year, even with shit I actively want like KCD2, Pirates in Hawaii, and now DS2, mostly cuz I'm short on cash. I have no qualms with stuff like open world or "movie" games, Cyberpunk and Red Dead 2 are in my top 5, you just have to do them well, and if you want a horrible HORRIBLE example of an ACTUAL movie game that's also a shit movie, look at the festering rotten pustule that is Life is Strange, the absolute bottom of the barrel yet people still keep chucking cash at them. Industry in general is a complete shitshow, and I know it's old news but the whole Concord situation is just the perfect example for how incompetent and mismanaged these multibillion dollar companies have become, and all of this goes for both Eastern and Western companies and devs, by the way, I ain't pulling the whole "OH ITS ANIME SO IT'S AUTOMATICALLY GOOD" bullshit, these problems are universal. Still, though, at the end of the day, shit like RGG's stuff, Witcher 4, Expedition 33, and even that new Mafia game holds my attention exponentially better than whatever reddit furry indie crap that the socially inept twenty year olds on twitter form their whole personality off of comes out every couple of months.

P.S. Barely scratched the surface of my true spite towards the industry but that shit did NOT need to go on longer.

For me, it doesn't matter whether the game is modern or retro; if I'm interested in the gameplay, the story, or both, I play. What I have noticed though, is there are fewer and fewer games that interest me compared to before.

You sure you ain't excited for Black Ops 7 or Ubisoft Product?

I find myself not caring about new games in most established series. Tears of the Kingdom was a flop, and new Final Fantasy games tend to disappoint me now.

For 'new' games....there's a lot of trash out there. A lot of stuff that just tries to copy shit. Also I'm running a 1660 Super and a 10th Gen Intel, so most new stuff pushes my PC quite a bit.

However, some new games have come out semi-recently that have given me hope for the industry.

-Baldur's Gate 3(Larian kicked ass!)
-Skald:Against the Black Priory(Gritty grimdark cosmic horror fantasy, yes please)
-Clair Obscur: Expedition 33(Only 50GB and AAA quality?! Hell yeah)

I know that's only 3 games but still. I think if we continue to support devs that make genuinely good stuff, we'll see more good stuff!

I like Assasins Creed, so if I could, I would play AC shadows. As for black ops... I have no idea what that is...
Black Ops stands for Black Operations, which is a term used in two scenarios:
-An African-American citizen is currently going through surgery.
-An African-American group of soldiers are currently going on a mission.
Those are the scenarios when the term "Black Operations" is used.
Also a spin-off of the famous(regrettably so...) series of first person shooters(and not good ones mind you) Call of Duty.
