Many years back, there was once a snack food made by Leslie food corporation Philippines, called Cheese Puffs. No, not Cheezy or Cheezy Puffs which is sold right now by the same company, I'm talking about a discontinued product that had a red, blue and yellow packaging and tastes different. I wish I could provide a picture but the product disappeared before there was an Internet (I think).
While I miss the snack, the thing that made me remember it was it's effect it had on a pet white rat I had long ago named Socrates, yes named after the one from the Willard movie. I fed Socrates all manners of food but the Cheese Puffs, he'd go crazy when I fed him that. He'd run around his cage wildly when he smelled it, and when I put it in his cage, I played a little tug of war with him with a puff and he'd pull it harder than anything he ever pulled on. I got bitten once accidentally with him with one of those tug of wars. When I put it in his cage, each puff disappeared in seconds. No other food I gave him and I experimented with a number of things, had anything close to his reaction with Cheese Puffs.
Now that I think of it, if it had that effect on him, maybe it would be a great success as bait on rat traps.
