Yeah, but after the 3rd time I noticed I am not really fit for these kind of emotional connections. My therapist fights me every session but nothing they say convinces me, sometimes I end up questioning the idea of it, was I really in love? did they love me or did they love the idea of me?

At my age I've lost all naiveness, my experience (and trauma) overrides every sort of stimuli now. So I'm out of the game but I'm happy.

If you haven't experienced it, it's worth a shot. You probably will have more luck than me, so take that as motivation.

It took me a very long time to understand and comes to terms with it, but yes. I have. I'm fortunate.

WTF, this thread got way off-topic, haha.

So I'll do two things: I'll tell my story and then post something completely unrelated.

When I was a sophomore in high school, at a science fair, I met a cute girl who later became my friend (sounds like a cliché, I know). Months passed, and I confessed my feelings to her. She ran off, and I didn't see her for the rest of the day. Later, she gave me a note saying I had a chance. And that's how it was; she was my girlfriend for about four months, and... well, the rest is another story.

Yes, we've been together now for 18 years.

We knew each other since grade school, talked a bit and were friendly during high school. Her boyfriend was from my friend group and the were together for a couple of years. Her personality changed, she became very quiet and reserved. One night at a party we just chatted and I had made her full on cackle with laughter. It was the first time since like, 10th grade I heard that from her, and I became infatuated. At the time I was in a pretty toxic relationship, me and my then-gf broke up at the same time her and her then-bf broke up. I went to her work one day and chatted with her, and asked if she wanted to come over and see my video game collection. We played some games and I walked her home.

That night we set up a future date to hang out at a bar, have some drinks and go dancing. That night, I waited for 30 minutes alone and nearly left when she actually showed up. We danced, and shared a very long, passionate kiss on the dance floor. We finished dancing and walked around the block and chatted. She went home with her friends by the end of the night, and I walked home alone with butterflies in my stomach. I felt so amazing.

We're still together, and I'm still as in love with her today as I was when I heard her laugh at that party.

oh man so the first time I ever fell in love with someone I was in middle school and she was my best friend. She is really into fighting games and at the time she was really REALLY into Mortal Kombat. I wanted to impress her so I started learning how to play. I got pretty good and would play people at our mall arcade. Unfortunately for me, she was into guys so we never got together but I made lots of friends playing MK at the arcade.

2nd time was when I was in high school and met my wife. I immediately fell in love with her and we became super close very fast. I asked her on a date and she turned me down so I just rolled with it and moved on. We've been super close ever since and we actually didn't start dating until 4 years ago when she asked me out XD. We've been married for 2 years now.

Man, I love the great blue badger

A couple of times. It's a nice feeling.
::yay

Nope.
Never had any romantic feelings.

I haven't really been in love yet. I wouldn't mind but you can't force something like that. It's become really difficult to find something like true love these days.

I fall in love crazy fast. It's a great feeling when the other person reciprocates. I was engaged for a bit. Sadly didn't work out, but I don't regret it.

I remember trying to show my feelings for someone, classic love letter, off course, that goes wrong, but it's ok, at least I can feel alive, I can say that I tried.
Respect for that I've thought about something like that before. But I never dared to do something like that.

Found some people attractive but never really felt like "I HAVE to propose to this person RIGHT NOW". I also don't feel like starting a relationship in my current status quo.

Hi OP,

Personally, I've got a wife; but that's not what you're asking for I believe.
There are as many ways to 'love' as there are many people in the world.
And all I can say is that, love is destructive if it is with the wrong person or in the wrong way or the wrong time.

But there is a love that I think a lot of people look for.
The kind of love that does not make you chase after it.
It doesn't play games with you, because that isn't a game to begin with.
It's the kind of love that waits with you, allows you to have time, space and quiet.
No rushing, no pressuring. No need to be perfect.

Because if it can't accept you as you are, then it most likely won't accept you by simply improving. Because love isn't about being enough, it's about know that you ARE enough and that, THAT is enough.

It's the kind of love that trusts you because it knows that you trust it. No scoreboards, no tally, just existing together with no blame.
It's as simple as it is harmonious.
But sometimes, simple is the most beautiful.

People will always have faults, it's a vicious cycle of pulling and pushing.
There will be days where you might feel like you're not enough, there will be days where the other person might feel the same.
That's perfectly normal.
We will never be perfectly content, because we are human and will always be slaves to wants and desires. But that's not an excuse to never try our best.

I hope this is entertaining somehow.
