i wonder what it says about me as a person(a) that persona 2 and 4 were the only persona games i could really let myself inside. persona 3 i thought was alright and persona 5 did not do it for me (i hasn't consumed the original cheeseburger)

i wonder what it says about me as a person(a) that persona 2 and 4 were the only persona games i could really let myself inside. persona 3 i thought was alright and persona 5 did not do it for me (i hasn't consumed the original cheeseburger)

It says you’re a crash bandicoot fan.
Nah for real though like what you like plus I’m probably not the right person to ask because as an avid persona fan, I find all manners of persona hate to be mad funny and probably 90% earned.
Plus those games are fire I can see why 2 and 4 would stick out more. It did take me comparatively longer to get attached to 3 and 5 admittedly.

in persona 5's defense, i did only play the game for around five to seven hours, which now that i type that out, it seems like a healthy amount of time to give to a game before deciding if it is or is not for me
i did play persona 3 to completion
i am a Power Wizardry Fan so i do enjoy longform party based dungeon crawls but something about persona 5 actively made desire to stop, perhaps the characters or setting (i recall some of the dialogue devolving into 'freak grown ups are they not the worst' and i believe those lines were delivered sincerely, which further made me say ewww as i looked upon my playstation 3 console

Yeah I love both 3 and 5.
Actually p5 is gauged by palace cuz the progression is kinda strict because it’s VN > dungeon > VN > dungeon rinse and repeat.
But tbf if you dislike the story then no reason to keep playing methinks.
Also tbf I’d classify persona 1 and 2 as classic smt. P3 also sorta barely qualifies cuz of the initial difficulty but it’s too simplified imo.

I feel like the soundtrack and UI alone make Persona 5 an absolute banger. The game was tough but fun. I did find the story sort of just plodded along at points though. And I agree that the "Grown ups are the worst" sentiment is so so lame.

I've nearly beaten Persona 3 FES now and whilst I have really enjoyed it, I have no real attachment to any of the party besides Junpei. He's pretty much the only one who undergoes significant character growth. Which I felt Persona 4 excelled at.

I'd say Persona 4 is my fave, then Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2.
Those games are absolutely outstanding

The game was tough but fun.

Yeah I played on merciless was really fun. It reminded me of another great game to be played in highest diff. I won’t say the name but it rhymes with Hingdom Kearts.

Yeah I agree NINE is interesting. I actually really dig the 3d models.
To be honest thoughhhh you’re not missing *that* much on if and v if you’ve played what you already played. If is an atmospheric game is attached to and V is just a super refined version of the smt formula with an utterly lousy story attached to it.

i will admit shamefully, part of the appeal of smtv for me is that it is i believe the only smt video game made natively for high definition game consoles
i play games on the computer and the idea of a very very pretty smt game playing in such clarity sounds like an experience i would enjoy

If by “natively high definition console” you mean the Switch 1 then unfortunately I have some very bad news for you.

Sarcasm aside I do agree. It does seem like the only one, SMT3 remaster notwithstanding.

Ayy you've started it now? That game gets so good. It has "just" enough twists on standard fairy tale stories to feel fresh, and I think they got the xp/levelling ratio just right.

I also love how spritely and short the victory theme is. I didn't play with any of the difficulty modifiers on (I think?) but I can imagine they make a reasonably beatable game a real tough time
