CRT Thread

I picked up this beauty for $70 at my local radio shop (DVD function don't work, so that's why I had to haggle for that price)

As I said on the front page this is in my brother's storage/mini garage that he uses for his tools.
*Central heat/air carpeted ect.*
It will be at my house in a week or so. MMmm... Scanline goodness.

It cost me nothing because my brother and his girlfriend were cleaning out one of her relatives' places she inherited, and they were told to get rid of everything.

I commented at work that I was looking for a CRT monitor for a Windows 98 retroPC I'm assembling and got two 17" monitors for free from the guys, they were very happy to get rid of them 😅 . They are all cheap models (Samsung SyncMaster 794V S and LG Flatron EZ T730SH) but man Duke Nuken 3D looks good on them::omgdoom

I got a Phillips 107e5 from a school storage room, just before the recycle truck arrived. There were better monitors available (Samsung Syncmaster 17" with 0.22 dot and up to 2536x1568 resolution and LG F900) but they had issues like scratches and missing stand and broken plastic.

I connected it to a Linux laptop and I can run games at 240p resolution and also use Switchres on Retroarch. While for FPS 512x384 is a nice resolution if you like scanline look

So back in December last year I snagged a decent deal on a Sony 1943md. Sadly the unit arrived DoA with it being so knocked around in transit that the neck and power supply board had snapped in half.

I really didn't think I'd get her going again but back in June I had dropped Steve a message at Retrotech and sent him the boards to see if he could do anything with them and he repaired the heck outta those boards and I popped them back in a couple days ago. Total win!
