I love watching 4:3 shows on my crt, currently use my ps3 to watch files off my networkdo any of you watch television on your old world tvs, or do you prefer to stick to games
I commented at work that I was looking for a CRT monitor for a Windows 98 retroPC I'm assembling and got two 17" monitors for free from the guys, they were very happy to get rid of them. They are all cheap models (Samsung SyncMaster 794V S and LG Flatron EZ T730SH) but man Duke Nuken 3D looks good on them

i wanna fix that corner, just need to rub a degaussing coil on it.my CRT is right across from my bed so it's my preferred way to watch most TV shows. i use DVD, VHS, and a raspberry pi i installed libreelec on to watch stuff from my media server. very, very comfy after a long shift.
totally fair, i do need to. it's definitely been showing its age without much maintenance, i'll get on buying another coil.i wanna fix that corner, just need to rub a degaussing coil on it.
A Mister is by far the best game related purchase I have ever made, and I've been playing since the 80's. You should keep an eye out for Superstation One stock. One of those along with the dock is a full consolized Mister system. After my post here, I decided to wake my Trinitron from its long sleep. I've calibrated it to the best of my ability, but unfortunately I cannot deactivate the green and red guns to make the blue-only, so I had to play by ear to adjust the colour. I like the way it looks, not dark at all as I remembered for some reason. It is smaller than I remembered too, the model is KV-21FX20E, making it a 21'' TV, instead of 27 or 32''. I also discovered the TV has more than 16k hours of use, might be a bit tired, the poor thing.
Putting it to work has also led to a series of terrible discoveries:
· Apparently years ago during a clean up session I threw away a plastic bag which contained my Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast and SNES' power adapters and RGB/S-Video cables. Yay me. My Dreamcast died years ago too, so it's not a problem at least.
·My Japanese Model 1 Saturn's CD drive is dead, I'm thinking about buying a Saroo and calling it a day.
·My PSOne's RCA cable is broken and works one out of every 10 times I try to use it and it looks terrible when it does work. Also, since I sold most of my game collection and threw away most of my copies, I barely have anything to play on it nowadays, and I don't have a CD/DVD drive anymore to burn more.
·I lent my Dual Shock 3 and never got it back, and the person who borrowed it has disappeared from my life many years ago, so no PS3 or PS2 for now either.
So I have a bunch of consoles I cannot use for the reasons described above, I'll probably buy the cables at some point, but nowadays I'm more inclined to emulate and I already own an Analogue Pocket and an Analogizer, I ordered a VGA to SCART cable but I ordered a SCART to VGA by mistake and I have just returned, I think I'll buy a composite adapter instead, I want the de-dithering from the composite output.
I've been thinking about buying a Mister setup at some point too, probably before this year ends, but for now the only thing that works with my CRT TV is an old Raspberry Pi 3b+ I mostly use as an MT-32Pi nowadays. I put a 240p-centric Lakka image in an SD card and it looks good, with the advantage of having save states. The performance could be better for some platforms, but I won't complain, every time I complain something gets worse.
Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I felt the need to say all this somewhere.
I think I'd rather buying the Mister Pi or the QMTech clone. the Superstation One lacked something compared to the other two, although I can't remember what it was.A Mister is by far the best game related purchase I have ever made, and I've been playing since the 80's. The Superstation is still being developed so there's been a bunch of revisions and I'm sure we'll see more by the time it releases. Lots of options though, can't go wrong with any of them really.I think I'd rather buying the Mister Pi or the QMTech clone. the Superstation One lacked something compared to the other two, although I can't remember what it was.
I've had my eye on them for a while, I'm just waiting for the right time to get one.
I wish I had one of these Trinitrons. Mine is one of the newer black ones. This is absolutely beautiful. So back in December last year I snagged a decent deal on a Sony 1943md. Sadly the unit arrived DoA with it being so knocked around in transit that the neck and power supply board had snapped in half.

I really didn't think I'd get her going again but back in June I had dropped Steve a message at Retrotech and sent him the boards to see if he could do anything with them and he repaired the heck outta those boards and I popped them back in a couple days ago. Total win!

The thing about this one is that geometry adjustments need to be done using the potentiometers on the boards. Nice looking 600 TVL screen though.I wish I had one of these Trinitrons. Mine is one of the newer black ones. This is absolutely beautiful.
