Maybe, dunno, I'm just going purely by vibes and feels here, and I always got that vibe from Demon's SoulsThe way you describe the games doesn't feel particularly unique to Castlevania. Honestly, describing it as not being like Castlevania would be just as convincing, even if you would need new arguments. You could even use "it's like Phantasy Star II" if you want.
