What about you?
My handle speaks for itself, but I also like Dawn of Sorrow (there was a java phone port of this game, played it there), and Symphony of the Night. Kinda wanna step my foot on Classicvania again just to see if I can finally beat at least one of the games.

started with symphony of the night and felt in love instantly with the series.

Love the 2D games, the 3D not that much sadly.

Hope we'll see a return of the series one day.. with a new ep and not remasters / collections megapacks..

??? There is already a Castlevania fan thread ::thinking
Well, I don't visit the forum that often so I just did not know/remember there was one.

Hope we'll see a return of the series one day.. with a new ep and not remasters / collections megapacks..
I feel like something like this could open sooner or later, in the manner of Contra Operation Galuga maybe?

My very first Castlevania was Symphony of the Night. Afterwards I became a Castlevania fan and played all the others (Bloodlines, Super Castlevania IV, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, Circle of the Moon, Dawn of Sorrow, Lament of Innocence etc.)

My first Castlevania was the first one on NES. Its 100% a classic for a reason.
My favorite "classicvania" is probably Super Castlevania IV (although I love all the first 4 games)
My favorite "metroidvania" is probably Symphony of the Night followed by Aria of Sorrow.
The most under rated Castlevania is Simon's Quest. I used to love that game as a kid, cryptic bullshit and all. (there are very good romhacks that make it much better too)

I will say I'm not really a fan of the 3D entries in the series though. Just personal taste I guess.

The 3D games are not very popular but with the time flying, I've developed nostalgia towards Castlevania 64 and Legacy of Darkness. I believe that with just a few tweaks, they could get very good. Namely: replacing instant death with losing a few HP when falling!

But the PlayStation 2 games produced by IGA are really mediocre. I played them again recently and it still did not click. And why they mad Hector's speed so slow in Curse of Darkness is beyond me.

I haven't played any Castlevania games for awhile, but in my last playthrough, I had beaten the Reaper with no armor and the stopwatch (completely ineffective against this specific boss). It's not really an insane flex tbf.

From the games, it's this:

From all Castlevania media, this track wins. It never was officially released, so this is actually a cover version

While I tend to view Symphony of the Night as my favorite of the Castlevania games I've played, I think Super Castlevania IV has the best soundtrack. It just does a phenomenal job of setting a proper mood for every stage.

That's heavy praise, because SOTN's soundtrack certainly kicks ass as well.

Rondo of Blood - Den (Stage 7)
There is just no better feeling than making it this far in the game, and this song starts playing. It makes you feel like a Super Shredder.

I can't decide...too many songs I really liked.

So I'll just post the ones with the biggest percentage of songs I liked: Castlevania 3 Japanese version (Akumajo Densetsu) and Super Castlevania 4. Almost all the songs that played in those games, I personally found delightful and memorable.

Here's something cool from my collection, a very rare alternate cover for Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon on the Switch. This seems like the right thread for it:

Lots of great Castlevania games for sure. ::alucard Did anyone enjoy the animated shows on Netflix?
I've seen the first one. It had some issues and I've seen a mix online between people who really like it and people who hate it. I am in the first category, but I think season 3 was a real low point and is the season that didn't do Alucard any favors. However, the show bounced back nicely in season 4, which wrapped the story up nicely while featuring some of the most badass action scenes ever put to animation.
Hello, Retro Game Talk! I've been a Castlevania fan for so many years, and I'm always happy to get in touch with other fans! This thread is dedicated to discussions about the series. Can you tell us what your favourite Castlevania game is?

Mine are:
- Castlevania (NES)
- Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
- Castlevania: Circle of the Moon

What about you?
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Vampire Killer on the Genesis
Super Castlevania IV

Those are the best games in the franchise for me

Other great games I really like that are Castlevania in everything but name:

Infernax
Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth
Bloodstained Curse of the Moon

You know? I never understood why Maria is such a taboo on this series: you either have to mod her in, unlock her or watch it as she becomes an NPC and/or cutscene material. She isn't even consistently on the same games.

Other than that, I really love Castlevania -- Symphony Of The Night specially.

Man I love seeing so much Castlevania appreciation! This more of a "what are your top 15 CV tracks" question lol.

This is probably the one I remember most because it sets such grueling, heavy tone for the boss rush. Epic atmosphere for a 16-bit console though that could be said about pretty much any track in this game.

This one is an absolute banger of an honorable mention.

I like one that goes

I would dare say Super Castlevania IV is the best Castlevania game ever for its "whip simulation" gameplay that sadly has not been added even in new games. IDK why they didn't improve whip gameplay by catching enemies with a whip and thus throwing them to the walls, ceiling, and bashing them to the ground and walls repeatedly and all. But the gameplay I have in mind is doing these manually in whatever way you want by using analog stick or mouse lol so they are not part of an automatic combo.
