This place keeps letting the worst scumbag users get off scot-free for continuously breaking the extremely easy to follow rules, spreading vitriol and poison everywhere and at most getting away with a slap on the wrist, only to re-emerge a week later spewing drunken rants breaking rules left and right.

I’d say ”don’t feed the trolls” but the way the site is set up right now it’s like they’re being fed by design, and the rest of us are forced to just look the other way while trying to use the forum like normal people.

The mods are powerless to do nearly anything and keep getting the brunt of the flak because Spike doesn’t want to deal with the occasional angry email from disgruntled ex-members threatening to ”take action”.

This weak Reader Mode shit clearly isn’t working, and just lets toxic assholes keep waltzing around barfing everywhere, and just pushes more and more well-meaning and amiable users out because the trolls and schizos overpower them, and protects the worst offenders from any sort of repercussions.

I don't know how much power the moderators have over this site, but it seems to me that they don't have as much as they should have, and I think it's because of Spike. Spike has the most control into what everything happens with them, and in turn, the users of the site that he owns. But I do believe that he should share some of his control to some of the other moderators.

I still firmly believe that the Reader Mode should be replaced, but I too thingk there needs to be an addition to the staff that isn't just limited to just moderators: Supervisors. You can probably rename Spike's role to simply being the Owner, and for those that get to have more control, they can be named the admins, but the point I'm trying to make is that there needs to be a good ground of distributing better roles on what the staff currently has. Spike having the final say in everything to me... Makes no sense. What about other admins/mods having the final say in things, and approving who gets to be in the Writer's guild given they followed the rules and whatnot? I'm sure that if this and the Reader Mode rule were to be revisited, then I'm sure that the issues this site's been having since the beginning can be better. I already talked about this in the other thread, but in the case that it ever gets removed, I'll share what I had thought in mind here:

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

I'm saying this with experience as an administrator, moderator and a user of sites and places similar to this one: the change from banning people to simply putting them on Reader Mode has to be one of the most outrageous changes this site has ever done. I understand that the consistent threats this site gets can be annoying to deal with especially on the staff's end, but that shouldn't be a reason to make your system worse to make them go away more; It entices them to exploit it furthermore and come back for more drama, causing more issues than you could ever imagine. It may not be severe, but think about it:

I don't know when this site had been established, but it took a while for a rule regarding mental health to be somewhat regulated since previously, there were some users that will show nothing but negativity most to all the time, which obviously is against the point of such. Similar to the consistent threats, I can understand why this too can be a bit of an issue, but I think there has to be a breaking point for when it gets too much. Keeping It's fine to talk about it since people do need to get their points across and vent after something happened to them if necessary, but I've seen some that will show nothing but that, and nothing has been done until recently.

That's just one of the main things I noticed about the rules regarding this site, but the main point I'm trying to make is locking in with moderation: The more soft your rules are, the higher chances of people going to be doing dumb things and getting away with them. The current rules remind me more of someone's personal discord server rules rather than a public forum with active access to them, and with the other forums I'm in, they have clearer rules and a much more aggressive moderation system that doesn't allow threats to be given to them easily. That doesn't mean they don't receive it, they tolerate it better since they're taught by the admins to not allow threats to be much of a big problem unless it actually does get serious. I would like to know personally if this ever happened within this site given how I remember CDRomance getting revived and not too long after, after "someone" or "somebody" sent numerous DMCA threats, it's been reverted back to the Repo. Still don't know the true reason behind this to this day.

I think if RGT were to have something like this, this site would be a whole lot better, it just takes a bit more elbow grease and having those that are willing to get rid of those who truly deserve it. The Reader Mode Rules is one of the main reasons I've left this site because I prefer to be in spaces where I know I'll be safe from having to not have myself be tied through one way or another into drama that happens within this site. I initially came in on RGT as a way to find another site that isn't too toxic, only for it to come down to removing the ability for bad people to get banned.... I seriously hope that the admins/mods think about revising the current Reader Mode rules!

This is extremely disrespectful with people who posted genuine discussion in the original thread. Let the mods clean the bullshit in the other thread and keep on topic there. That's simple.

I don't care about people derailing the thread. I'm sure Panda meant well but there's really no reason for this thread to exist because it's not like people ignored the topic of the one I made.

Kind of obnoxious that it turned into braindead post count-farming, though.

Also, bringing back the ban and rule enforcement are completely different things, tho correlated.
Hey thumbsdown you could give me a thumbs up from time to time to

Also I agree there should be a different thread for this.

The other thread will be closed in just a few minutes.

I don't actually see the alleged disrespect to @Tonberry when meaningful discussion kept on happening hundreds of replies in, then it devolved like every single thread on this forum has for the past two years. At one point, it's inevitable and the sight of a healthy, active community.

I'm personally thankful to Ton for creating such a topic and bring the discussion forward & plan to use it as a building block for something else, once the other mods give me the go-ahead.

That was the intention. I'm glad some people understood, at least.
Still, lame of people to use it as a way to get free post counts.

The disrespect is not towards tonberry, since OP replicates his ideas. The disrespect is towards the rest of us, who left our discussions there. This is straight-up erasure.

I still haven't seen any trolling or the usual racist remarks on people. Am I not seeing a part of the forum that has this?

I think the mods are doing a great job.
I just want people to trust me again.
I'm tired of everything.
I've said this countless times to you specifically. But you aren't a mod and you keep acting on impulse and emotion like a 5-year old and thinking you can take action on something a mod can do. Then you wonder why people treat you so harshly. I have to remove my ignore on you just too say this for the 500 freaking time. People told you to ignore users who treat you like shit and yet you continue to pester them and me. That's all I'm going to say and the last time I reply to you.

The mods can delete this post for being off-topic as they wish, I just want to get this point across.

I'm sure there's a way to cut the excess and move it towards the non-counting board. Will take a look later.

I did see some racist comments but they where removed extremely quick so yes the mods seem to do their Job unpaid mind you I think and yet people bitch and complain that they are not perfect.

I myself had diagreements with xertain mods in the past yet the are humans who do screw ups to,we should keep that in mind.

He wasn't even complaining about the mods just asking where the trolls are.

Things seem pretty under control, I don't see any chaos and racism and the only drama is dumb discord kiddies. I don't see any major changes needed.
True also dang edit one way to ruin a gig Pac buddy, fully agree pal

It was not directed at him but meant as a statemant overall.
Writting on my slow phone is pain.

Just want to point out again that "bring back the ban" and "rule enforcement" are not the same thing. The Duplicate Hunter "policy" is a thing here, so the staff is just going inconsistent again and proceeding the erasure of the good-faithed in the original thread. Not that I'm surprised at all.

Doing better is cleaning the bullshit there, not making a duplicate missing the whole point of what's being proposed in its title. Dropping it here anyway, since nothing ever happens against the vitriol.

I did this mainly for you friend , and the others

But if you see no point in having the thread remade , i think that means it doesn't need to exist anymore

A merger or an outright delete of this one is up to the staff i will leave it to them

I do however suggest a FINAL solution for the original thread , simply clean it off dear staff and if possible revert back the gains made by the actors of getting that thread derailed

Remember Spike IS the owner and he can do whatever he sees fit , he can get rid of the forums for all its worth if he wants to

I know this already. But I don't think it would be best to delete the site. I'm just giving my reccomendation since it can be a plausible solution to the ongoing drama this forum has

Spike has given us almost complete autonomy since day one (the only things we can't actually do all involve creating sections or modifying the board itself).

He even asks for our opinions when he could clearly do without. We just try to repay that trust by doing a good job.

That's good to hear! I was worried that you guys didn't have as much as I believed.

Oh deleting the forums would actually save spike a lot of trouble , no butthurt mfs threat to report him for kicking them out of his forums , no drama that gets your staff team jaded , no spammers and trolls too

Its actually a winning move on Spike part

Do you see what I have to put up with?
Zega.....please take some rest from the site
