Digital Devil Saga is easy. It was basically made to attract people to the franchise and if you know what are you doing you're ready to go. And answering your question. In nocturne there's an extra dungeon that is opcional but there's are a lot of new bosses like the Archangel Metatron and if you complete it You can get one of the best endings in gaming. Also in Nocturne try to learn the weakness of the enemies if you learn how to abuse that system you can get very far in the game ?

I CANNOT say the same for Digital Devil Story 2 Megami Tensei which is the only game I played and finished in the series, adored it, and it is one Bastard Game: When I got to God I REALLY felt I like I had to make it through jell and back to get there

Id say...
Rodin from the Batyonetta games will completly disintigrate you and you'll need to partially relarn the game to get through one health bar, and it follows the convention of "The Mercant is the strongest entitity in the game"

He takes 999999999 coins to unlock, has a ludicrous amount of hp, is immune to your slowing down time, you cannot use items and has a grab that will reduce you to 1 hp or kill you if you're already on 1 which you will be in some 4-5 hits with maxed out health
Fighting him also teaches you about who this mysterious character actually is and beating him unlocks you a unique weapon that morphs into angel arms

Also...NIGHT TERROR from SoulCalibur 3
1734322797814.png

Merely getting to him requires you taking a secret path when playing the story mode thats different for every character

Then you must also beat another secret oppent thats extra difficult before getting to him, and youn must never lose once

Night Terror breks all the rules, he cannot be thrown off the ring as he will just fly back up, he has ludicruous rage, unlimited power, incredible speed, invincibility frames, he can fly and shoot giant ass lasers forever, stun you for eternity and he looks fuckin amazing

Theres an entire unlockable minigame thats just fighting him because the developers KNEW what theyve just created, he has a unique bio that will send shivers down your spine as he is the apocalypse of this world. You can use cheat devices to play as him and man...he really feels like you're playing as a God
Theres a special superboss you only fight against in challenge modes called colossus, ah..well, colossal statue that can also one shot you and kick you into saturn and all that; night terror makes quick work of it

Did I mention you can still move around as you fly firing down infinite lasers??
And just listen to that theme

Picked up Bayonetta for dirt cheap on Steam several months back, good to see what I'm sure will amount to a great challenge someday.

Edited to add another secret boss :p

The quickest way to farm halos for him is equipping gaze of despair and defeat temperantia over and over with lighting durga

Its best you unlock all the strongest weapons first (which you'll have to look up)
Let's just say that he's in a different league than even the game's equivalent to dante must die

Asura from Vagrant Story, not because it's a difficult fight, but it means you've cleared that awful Iron Maiden dungeon!

My gaming backlog is way too big, I hope I make it to this some day.
It's got the most cinematic sensibility of anything on the PSX (or at least tied with Metal Gear Solid but without Kojima's on the nose direct references), and the combat/equipment system is still unique, if a bit held back by the system limitations. Pretty much my favorite game of all time, hope you like it if you ever get around to it.

I still need to play Megami Tensei 2. At some point everyone in their lives have to fight the Minotaur. Also I took like 2 hours to kill Rodin in 360 and I think they did him more harder in bayonetta 2 it's insane ?

Also another hard as hell secret boss! This time is Satan in Digital Devil Saga 2. First It can only be fought on hard difficulty nearly at the end of the game. Which means that you had to have a save of DDS 1 (it gives you a save bonus reward that unlocks hard difficulty instantly) or complete digital Devil Saga 2 and start a new save on hard. Well the dude is level 99, has a lot of hp (the mayor quantity of the entire game!), when he takes enough damage he change his attack pattern and also he has an attack that instantly kills your party member with the lowest magic stat. So yeah if I were you dear reader I would play Digital Devil Saga 1 and then transfer the save for the bonuses.

mario RPGs secret boss is basically a final fantasy boss, with final fantasy music before the fight, during the fight, and after the fight. he fights with the 4 crystals like most FF games have.
on the SNES version he mentions how he's stuck in 2d graphics,
in the remake on switch he mentions how he's now 3D and more powerful (he is but not enough)
mario rpg is super duper easy you can be level 20 and beat the secret boss and all (switch version) new bosses, the max level is 30 and there's zero reason to be that high. switch version is easier most of the time aside from the new boss fights, but it was easy on SNES all the same.
Post automatically merged:

i don't think it's a secret/hidden boss but it's optional all the same:
in bravely default 1:
the entire chapter 8 (the last timeloop) revs it to high difficulty, as you now got fights with FOUR bosses at once, some of which are hard enough ALONE as earlier in the game. completely optional but as a RPG fan you're gonna try to clear em all right?
there's a fight i believe was a black mage, summoner, spiritmaster, and alchemist fighting you
the spiritmaster can do meteor for 9,999 damage (the max hp you can get, it's a one hit kill)
you're dealing with a summoner, like any FF game, painful multi target hits, bosses don't run out of MP
black mage well this dude does all teh black magic stuff, Firaga, blind all, silence all,
and this alchemist in the mix... regens his party, guard, shell, protect, all that
all in all the hardest fight i've ever seen in a RPG game,
every boss fight felt like i had to break game mechanics to win.
but, for some reason it's the most fun i've had in an RPG boss fight, it wasn't like you couldn't be cheesy as hell to win, hell this game has a lot of cheesing strategy.

...there's a actual secret boss fight on top of this, but they are ONE person, but they can use all your gimmicks, time stop, rewind, they also have 9999 meteor, and practically all the worst moves you've dealt with, but again, ONE PERSON, so, with a massive cheese that's NOTHING.

but... bravely second and bravely default 2 very dumbed down the nonsense, even on hard they're very casual, i mean BD1 was SUPER HARD, not surprising to dumb it down a bit lol.
all these games have like, "turn off EXP, job points, money" settings too on top of encounter rate change (can be 0%)

There are some bosses in games that we just enjoy fighting!
  • They might be super strong in a good way ?️
  • They might be wacky and hilarious ?
  • They might be great due to a plot twist! ?️
  • Or for reasons beyond words! ?️‍♂️
Please note that i'm not including bosses that you love just because they are sexy! That would make the context of this thread too broad. If you are interested in them, you might want to check or create a dedicated thread. ::angel

So here's a list of some bosses that I found cool!
There are probably more, but these are the ones on the top of my mind right now.

Sunset Riders (md)
The Last Boss!
SunsetRiders-LastBoss.jpg

He was pretty nifty, strong, wacky, and cool!

Contra: Hard Corps (md)
Almost all the bosses in this game were pretty cool, but this one is my favorite!
Stage 5a - Mad Scientist
The idea of being used as a guinea pig for a mad scientist, and fighting the combined monsters that we fought before was pretty neat!
I can't help but want more of it! it was too short!

Dragon Warrior 4 (nes) (aka Dragon Quest 4)
Esturk
DQ4-Esturk.jpg

The guy wiping the floor with heroes IN HIS SLEEP!?!
Now that's the kind of villain i like! Very cool!

Airzonk (pce)
The trio bosses in the last level!
Airzonk-TrioBosses.jpg

The combination of great music, plot twist, and wackiness, makes this one of my favorites!
The fact that the two person in left and right are actually the other evolutions of Bonk, makes it quite an interesting confrontation!
It's as if Airzonk is fighting different versions of himself!
And also presence of last boss of Bonk, King Drool himself in center!

Ace Attorney Investigations Miles Edgeworth 2 (nds)
Mr Doe (aka Shelly de killer)
AceAttorney-Investigations2-de-killer.jpg

The way he keeps being calm and collected under any circumstance is impressive!
His face never reveals anything against his will. Quite a character!

Warning Warning!!!
Make sure to use SPOILER tags if you are going to reveal anything important about game plot!
Failing to do so might result in the Whole thread being Banned!!!

I'd say
Nineball Seraph
in Armored Core Master of Arena. Bonus points for its second appearance in 2 AA actually being harder than the original, or at least it feels like it is.

beat this annoying guy yesterday, he was only the first boss.
gave me arthritis but his defeat was satisfactory

(not my gameplay)

the torizo from am2r is one of the first ones that come to mind for me, it took me so many attempts but it was super satisfying when i finally beat it

The first boss of Devil May Cry: Phantom

He's the noob killer: if you've been half assing it to this point you shall not pass

Its the biggest ememy youve seen so far and fight him in a cramped space, he's near invulnerable to guns, if you run away he has many fast ranged attacks that do just as much damage as the melee ones
You must learn the game movent system, how to dodge, how each attack you do needs to be times

You can even do fancy stuff just for the fun of it like reflecting his attack back at him or make him swallow his own fireballs

He also serves to show dante's power, as Dante is completely unphased by him and mocks him
He says he 'sensed something bigger' when meeting Dante, hinting at how much stronger he is than a human or a demon
By the his second fight you'll kill him with ease when he seemed impossible before

Now the player will feel as confident as Dante as he bids this overgrown pest "Sweet Dreams"

Fatalis, every Monster Hunter have bosses with unique abilities, but Fatalis (despite having none of those unique abilities) still stands tall as the one of the strongest, and the coolest monster to fight against

It's a bit frustrating to fight against him but I enjoy every second

(Forgot to mentioned it was in Iceborne, it's one of my favorite)

Giegue in Mother 1 for sheer amount of dem feels
In terms of Mechanics all the Divine Beast on BOTW, they are escencially Sonic Froniters giants before Sonic Frontiers

However of the most recent i played there must be

Both Omega Flowey and Pacifist Ceroba
Ceroba looks like the tipical no-nonsense character in the Underground, however as you learn about her husband and daughter and her reasons to do what she does, not to mention she will pull no punches as the battle proceeds, in Pacifist i died a total of NEVER, then she put her daughter's mask, after that the ending fell great in a ... I actually lied down in bed resisting the tears after finishing sense
Regarding Omega Flowey... oh boy
If you though Omega Flowey in Undertale was creepy, this one looks like a Creepypasta come to life, the "Base" Flowey looks freaky enough, but the art shifts in the extra phases will make you feel Uncanny Valley, the part where you escape him is far more tense than neccesary in a good way, oh, and rather than "Beating him" he literally tires of you and send you to get the Pacifist ending
*Chef Kiss* Me atrapaste, es cine (You got me there, is cinema)

So many great bosses, and i have never seen any of them! ?

I can only remember this one
Its just the final boss' gimmick, the other battles are more "normal"
Cool nonetheless!
Oh! that actually made me remember another cool boss!

The Adventures of Batman & Robin (md)
Actually all bosses in this game are pretty cool!
But this one is my favorite! The ToyMan! (or whatever his name is!)
Note that this is a video of all the bosses!
(Starts from 12:55)
