Movies Awesome movies ruined by the ending

Snowpiecer.

I simply choose to believe the scene inserted after the train crash implying there were survivors was forced in there by producers the themes make much more sense when everyone dies

The original ending to Army of Darkness. I mean sure, I get the whole idea would've been to do a sequel where Ash fought the Deadites in the future, but... I don't know, it just feels a bit too mean spirited given the events of Evil Dead 1, 2 and that movie.

Thankfully they did a better ending which sent him back to normal times and led into Ash Vs Evil Dead.

Also, just because it's a take a like; Terminator 2. The Director's Cut ending is far superior because it caps off Skynet, Judgement Day and all that, giving Sarah and John the ending they deserved and made Dyson's sacrifice actually mean something. The original ending ruins T2 because sequels can exist, which in turn ruin it.

The ending reminded me so something. But I cannot recall the film or TV episode of whatever it was. The character I really felt bad for was the lady looking for her kid. I think she should have been the main character and not "Mr. Generic Action Dude".

Oh I'm certain the entire thing underwent a ton of changes from the original script like this! The director is on record saying he told Harvey Wienstein, the producer, to not change something "because my dead father wanted it to be like that" in a desperate attempt to get him to stop changing things on set last minute. It worked, also his dad is alive and fine lmao

I tend to only remember the movies that really shook me or moved me deeply, so honestly, none of their endings ever disappointed me. If a movie is good, its ending is good too — and the other way around.

Two words: "My Girl" (1991).

It was a devastating ending to a movie that wasn't even threatening to go down that route.
My sister got that as a birthday present once. I wanted to watch it immediately as I was a big fan of Macauley Culkin at the time.

Unfortunately, there were younger kids at the birthday party and she didn't want to risk upsetting them, so I already had the ending spoiled for me going in.

It's a brutal ending, but enjoyable.

Sorry to necro this post, but you are so right with this. All the build up, all the character sacrifices, all the character growth thrown away. Steve and Aja's babies ? Never existed. Strickland turning good? He might not now. Garbage, del Toro should be ashamed of himself for writing such a garbage movie.

Might get flak for this but....

I wouldn't say it ruins the film but it holds the film back from being the masterpiece it's made out to be imo. Honestly Miyazaki tends to be pretty bad at ending films from what i've seen.

Ratatouille and I'm going to be cursed that I hate that ending I wanted the ending They continue in the kitchen working

Not just the ending, it's rather the whole second half of it. I hate whoever wrote it.

Brooooo I haven't thought about this movie in a LONG time now. I agree the first half is a lot of fun with some good scenes but they really drop the ball in the second act. It felt like they didn't quite know where to take the story after

Some people could argue that 2001 a Space Odyssey's ending is a "mind screwery" that has turned that hard sci-fi movie into an acid trip (it was the late 60's after all, LSD got more easily accessible). Yes, if you've read the book it was clearer storywise but as a movie it made it seems like they didn't know how to end the journey.

At least the whole movie is still a cinematographic masterpiece and perhaps the magnum opus of Kubrick.

Fist adaptation(1995) of Mortal Kombat are very good, but ending are little lame
Shao Kahn appears and heroes pepares to fight him.

Weapons is the latest example for me. Act 1 and 2 are great, and then act 3 and the ending feels like a big unfunny joke.

Avengers: Infinity War.

Now, I'm the first to say that after Age of Ultron, the MCU started to become increasingly dull and pointless, but back then, I truly believed I was witnessing the end of a universe. The end of a journey I've been experiencing since I was 8 years old, with the first Iron Man and Incredible Hulk movies.

After years of building heroes, villains, fantastical environments, etc., we arrive at a battle between two completely different worlds, with a heavily armed eggplant who wants cosmic-powered stones.
You barely managed to stop him and stun him enough to grab his gauntlet and take him down once and for all... And Marvel decides to completely discredit a character they didn't create (lucky us!!!), Star-Lord, who gives them the assist to wipe out half the universe.

Not content with that, Thor decides to be a family-friendly hero and aims for his chest instead of his arm with the Stormbreaker. This actually seems like a joke, which is why I prefer Endgame (which is more flawed and plot-wise senseless than the previous film, but at least it's exciting and has a good ending).

Man I loved that ending! Such a crazy mind f*ck
I know the ending has some defenders, are there are some hints, but the movie more or less cheats. It sucks, because I really enjoyed the tension and pacing of the film. I saw it for free at home, but I never wanted to watch it again after that.

Oh yeah I totally get it, and the hints are pretty small and don't make sense.

Like the beginning with the dude in the truck and he throws the head out the window. Like it makes no sense in the ending.

I get why there are haters, I just thought it was unhinged and fun.

after a quantic dreams marathon, for some reason beyond two souls was the game that had me do some after game research since unpleasable stories aren't something I enjoy, and found a movie by the same lead actor called close to you, it was an enjoyable movie, but the cheating scene near the end left me with some bad after taste

Three Colours: White.

I love this trilogy, and I really enjoyed most of this film. I just need to scrub the last few minutes from my mind.

I feel way too many movies botch the entire third act of a film and not just butcher the ending.

The dragon quest movie was pretty good till the twist at the end and that just completely undermines the entire thing ::sailor-embarrassed , solely the ending and not a botched third act.

I am trying to think of a movie that was really, really good and it just had a bad ending and I can't think of any, it's mostly movies that the third act was botched and thus ended badly and contrasts poorly with the first two acts of the movie in general. This would make a whole movie bad for me and as a result I would not rewatch it or even commit it to memory. I have probably watched a movie that fits the criteria of the thread but my mind won't allow me to remember it :loldog
