Game Description:​

Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is a Racing video game published by Gameloft and developed by Gameloft released on June 12th, 2009 for the DS.

The world is your racetrack! Choose among 28 dream cars and motorcycles from prestigious manufacturers. Race your way through 8 of the most renowned cities in 3D, using either standard or Touch Screen controls. Customize and tune your vehicles in the garage, then take photos to create a custom icon. From Paris to Dubai, race through busy streets in 6 modes plus 4-way Multiplayer. Avoid police, demolish competitors and pass the leader to win and become an urban racing VIP!

How to Play:​

(Using the MelonDS DS core in RetroArch)

1. Make sure you have the MelonDS DS core installed in RetroArch (the one that has DS twice in the name, it's the better one imo)
2. Download the bios files required for DSi emulation from this page (you will need to find NAND versions for the region matching the version you get)
3. You will need to rename the files according to what the Core Information page for the core in RetroArch says. With the core loaded go to Information -> Core Information from the menu to see it.
4. The bios files go into your RetroArch System directory (C:\RetroArch-Win64\system if on Windows with default install location)
5. In Core Options for MelonDS make sure that Boot Mode is set to Direct instead of Native in the System section.
6. Load the zip containing the .nds file and the game should boot up and play fine.

Included are .cia versions that can be installed on a custom firmware enabled 3DS using FBI.

You can play the iOS version with touchHLE an iOS "emulator" on github for Android

The game hangs on the "creating save data" screen on melonds. (Not the retro arc version)

edit: like an idiot and accidentally uploaded them all as Windows instead of DS roms. I don't have access to my laptop right now so I can't fix it until tomorrow

For me this is the perfect version of this game. I wouldn't change anything about it, not even improve graphics or decompress sound. It's already perfect in this way.

Way better than the cell phone version from 2008 with it's lower quality fake 3D graphics engine

Works on R4 SDHC in DSi XL?

No. R4 and flashcarts boot into DS mode only and therefore don't support DSi exclusive titles. You would need to use a tool like NAND Title Manager and I'm not even sure if the files in this post can be used with that app. I only have a New 3DS XL and not a DSi. But I do have an R4 card that I bought in 2019 that still works fine that I use for DS roms. It can't load DSi games, I've tried
edit: you can try installing TWiLight Menu++ onto your Flashcard or DSi. Here's instructions for a Flashcard (but the R4 brand isn't specifically mentioned) and for standard DSi install.
