AMA Ask The Mods!

Ask Me Anything
Dunno how feasible the concept is as a whole but considering the fact that Flash has been dead for years now it definitely won't work the way it used to way back when.
Yeah, and not outside of people having Ruffle to emulate Adobe Flash Player, or using Flashpoint. Old Flash games now have a lot of backdoors that can be exploited, as I understand it, since it's been so long since a security update

Don't get me wrong.... I used to live on Newgrounds, and it would be a very cool thing.
However, I believe it's just not worth the risk to the site or its users

Yeah. I knew it wouldn't be exactly the same, more curious as to a more modern replacement. But I don't go to any forums other than this, so I'm not sure what's out there nowadays. ::bigboss

If you had to estimate the total number of pixels rendered in all user screenshots ever taken in this forum, and then convert that pixel count into an actual physical size of a giant pixel sculpture, how many times would you need to resize it to fit into our entire solar system?

Hmm... <Throws a totally random number with absolute confidence>, yes, if my calculations are correct, and indeed, they are!

How can we implement this game into the forum so we can all play and see who is the best pool player on RGT?

Do the Mods here offer Mod support for my games ?
ba GIF

well maybe a more serious what made you all decide to become a Mod here in the first place as my understanding is its like a second non paying job with probably headache as a little extra from all the dramas so what was the reason curiosity ? power ? love ;) ? or something else ?

Hmm, maybe a block system will be introduced instead of an ignore system, are there such plans here?

No, there aren't.

The XenForo devs have been adamantly against that sort of thing, quoting it going against the very nature of forums -- and I tend to agree.

OK, I guess it probably wouldn't make sense for such a small forum.

Wouldn't it be better if we simply could embed html games in threads or profile posts? Or even in profile blocks...

Ehhh... HTML can be tricky and has long been stripped from sites like the now-defunct MindViz and VampireFreaks because people were able to sneak really harmful shit in there -- plus, it isn't all that mobile-friendly.

Maybe turn it a staff-only permission. But anyway, that's reasonable.

I gotchu, turns out that it would add bureaucracy.

Is there a reason why a "this" or "finger pointing up" reaction doesn't exist here?
Asking because many times now I've wanted to mark some people's replies as "useful" or "correct" in other threads, but couldn't do so without writing a full reply myself.
I'm not a mod (obviously), but since I'm involved in the creation of the reactions and emotes I'll answer.
"This" seems a bit redundant to the Thumbs Up or Thank You reactions depending on how you want to use it.
There's also a soft limit of 10 reactions so we have room for one more. Spike expressed interest in a Hug reaction though so if there will ever be a 10th reaction, that's the likely one.

Can we please add the Crying Emoji reaction? It expresses more than just 1 emotion and I feel like it should be added as a better impression than just having Sad Kirby

The Sad Kirby was originally a crying one but Spike requested one without crying since it could be seen as an overreaction or disrespectful in some cases.

Genuine question, is it generally stressful to manage a forum like this?
I guess.
With the team being so big that we can all cover for each other when one of us is busy irl combined with how quiet things are lately, probably not.
But I kinda just have my own way of filtering out stress.
We already have a somewhat collectivist way of handling forum issues so there’s not any moments that come to mind where one of us gets dog piled with reports all alone.
I can also safely say this is the first mod team I’ve worked with where I can safely say everyone I’m working with is my friend, and not merely a coworker. That’s on top of the fact we’re all on great terms with each other which is leagues above the former mod team I worked with 7 years ago.

This forum also has a nice feeling of continuity, amongst the oldest regulars (who used to post before the forum was even public and barely had members in the triple digits), me, waffles, octopus, strategist and dunkey are somehow still standing which is great to see.

And a lot of friends I made here are people that I still talk with, and some of the people I picked for staff in the repo team also turned out to be great people so that’s cool too.

I'm still around.
