@Nebulon_Galaxy I'm also doing Draw a Box. Going to draw 250 boxes in perspective because that will help me get good or something.
Draw a Box is fun, but like most things you shouldn't use it so often. People get trapped and only do boxes. Best to do it as a exercise every other week imo. You should do it as a warm up if you want to draw from perspective or draw buildings/mechanical stuff. I used it when i was younger, and its a good learning guide on drawing from perspective.

Yeah, that's true. They do recommend that you spend half your time doing creative art instead of grinding through the exercises. I'll find a good balance between advancing through the course and drawing from imagination. Plus I have my Figure Drawing practice and Watercolor. Maybe I'm overdoing it. lol.

I have been following tutorials. here is my first tree I made a while back in Piskel

Anything I draw becomes cute.
Since this is a retro game forum, perhaps some of you remember Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog?
The drills had me laughing!

whoa that first pic looks rad. Like a bunch of ribbons

Yeah, the instructor wanted us to get used to changing line weights and having it flow naturally so the exercise was practice for that. It was tricky with the charcoal stick going from the point to the thick side but I eventually got used to it.
