Are MOBAs actually even fun?

I used to play LoL and it was deeply stressful and enflamed my smoking habit. After kicking it years later, I tried HotS vs bots mostly to try heroes and I had a lot of fun. Every time I would play against other people, the stress and pressure would come back and keep me back to playing vs bots. It was relaxing. So.. I think the social ranked elements of these games lead to too much stress to where it's not fun.

There was this Russian YT channel that made it his mission to fuck up every MOBA match as bad AS possible, and have his teammates crash out on him.

I think its a Meta-thing for most people.
You dont really play it to "enjoy the game" per se, its more so about hurling the most and fastest abuse at the other person via text and voice.
Sure, "the actual game" is scored, but the real winner is decided by who is the most abusive.
Most people just dont understand that, they needlessly assume MOBA communities are "toxic", but they just dont get the meta-game.

I've been playing Mobile Legends since 2018, I consider it fun and veryyyy competitive. It's one of the most popular games in my country — LoL is what I think you should avoid playing. I played this for 1-2 months and only experienced hell.

A classmate in college desperately wanted me to play League of Legends. I tried it for a bit but it just didn't click. Haven't played one since and I don't think I will.

Tried to get into DOTA the original MOBA joined lobbies on game ranger , all players are Russian or from Mongolia.....if you are new 99% chance you will get kicked out.

Kept happening to me until i said screw this map I'm playing something else , peak MOBA experience

Mobas fun ?? honestly I got no clue I tired LoL I tired Smite and honestly im not a competitive person what so ever so to me they where boring. While I played smite all I was think this is cool charter I wish it was a single player game with PVP where I run around an open world doing quest and I can pick what ever hero do it with.

So I would say moba is fun for competitive people or people that like does game but for me NAH I rather play something else. But im not gonna hate on them because it´s just not for me so hating on them is just dumb I think they are great for people that enjoy them.

In theory, yes. The character variety, builds and team building concepts and all the theory crafting is fun on paper. Actually playing the game? Not so much.

Life is too short to spend on a genre that brings out the worst in people (and also attracts the worst kind of people.)

MOBAs are fun with friends, they were a nice mod for WC3, but not something you'd play regularly.

So yes, they are most certainly, but not for everyone anyway.

Life is too short to spend on any game.

I never got into MOBAs is just gets stale for awhile. Many people were playing a lot of League of Legends back then and i was never interested. Like someone said previously, it's Esports slop.

I haven't play DOTA 2 since like 2016 and yeah, from what i remember people tended to be toxic in there.

some games are pure unfun but what i used to play more was dota, it'll be more fun if you played any moba games with people you can contact or friends so it doesn't make a whole unfun experience for you

Upon a surface shallow glance, the MOBAs I've seen look like Age of Empires 2: Brainrot Edition. I've never played one but watched my buddy play and it looks kinda fun but not my thing lol. I'm aware of the emotionally stunted demographic that they're known for attracting in the competitive sphere, and that definitely keeps me away from bothering hahahaha.

I know the start of MOBAs dates back to DOTA 1. It was Warcraft 3 mod so it's not strange to think of an RTS whenever you see one.

My whole friend group played League of Legends like eight years ago and kept up with the e-sport, but I could just never get into it. I for sure tried for way longer then I should've. I played for like 50 hours, mainly just to hang out with them, but I never had fun with it. I didn't like the ever changing meta or the fact that any single mistake from you or your teammates could get you really far behind with no hope of turning the tables. Just not my cup of tea.

I just think it's funny how a thread about MOBA's has no conversations regarding Highguard, the recently fps/MOBA Hybrid. That's how little of an impact its having.
Then again it lost over 90% of its players within the first 24 hours 💀 Closer to 95% on Steam.

Anyway, I still have the subtle urge to replay League of Legends, although I haven't played the game since 2015. The original Star Guardian era was the last time I ever touched LoL.
I still have the limited edition shirt ::sailor-embarrassed

Would alone be down to play League? Specifically people who want to just play for Fun? EUW server?

I used to enjoy ARAM because it discouraged tryhards & those who would throw a game within the first 10 minutes if their team wasn't "good" enough.
I was never the best at league, my win rate hovered around 43% if I recall. My account is so old I can't even pull up public stats, and it goes with out saying my knowledge of any meta is long gone.
But if I could jump onto discord, steamchat or teamspeak with a few anon's who just want to enjoy the moment, no real interest in persistently winning. I would happily play again.
Poppy was my main, although I also enjoyed Pantheon, Lux, Morgana, Teemo and Nautilus.

#EzriM is my riot tag, if any one wants to be friends DM me here and we can sort out some communication.

This thread in general is extremely inactive and Highguard has very little in common with the traditional MOBA structure, so Highguard not being here doesn't mean much. There's more to life than just pointing and laughing at whatever the current internet lolcow thing is anyway
