I know it's bad! I know the manga is way better! And the anime butchered it but I really like it, I'm sorry!!

Please don't throw tomatoes at me, but the first anime that came to mind when I thought of the subject of this thread was Mobile Suit Gundam AGE.

I know it's not a masterpiece, it's far from it, but as someone who had heard for YEARS from the Gundam fandom how bad it was and how it was one of the worst Gundam series with one of the worst protagonists in the third arc, I actually thought it was great. Overhated, even.

One of the things I really liked about it is that the protagonists of each arc of the series was a different generation in the same family. Like the second arc's protagonist is the son of the first arc's protagonist and the third arc's protagonist is the son of the second arc's protagonist. It's because of that a major theme of the series is the conflicting beliefs between different generations and how hatred from older generations can affect the younger generation.

Honestly, it's a very interesting watch imo.

For me, it's gotta be Angel Cop. Now, to be fair, I watched the English dub and for that, they removed every instance of antisemitism that was present in the original Japanese language. I still haven't went through it with the subs, but dub Angel Cop? Yeah, it's peak.

AGE seems like it should have been multiple series, and not 3.5 stories crammed into one season

I remember having people tell me the stardust crusader ovas from 1993/2000 sucked and while i agree that if thats all you had in terms of jojo it isnt good for actually understanding part 3 its honestly very good in its own right as long as its supplemental to having already going thru part 3. the animation is especially really good and it has the best version of the fight between jotaro and dio in animation, it leaves me confused as to why people don't like it.

I like this OVA, too – it was more popular before the modern adaptation of Part 3 came out. It certainly condenses some things (and censors others, unfortunately), but, in the context of when it was released, I think it's a pretty great adaptation of the manga into a shorter timespan (which was not at all uncommon at the time). I would have loved to see the lost Part 1 movie, too...

omg me too! i hope it gets released someday.

Hmm i can think of a few.
Ergo proxy, which feels like texnholyze if it wasn't garbage.
Generator gawl, which isn't high art by any means but i enjoy it.
8 man after, good luck finding the japanese translation lol.
Tekkaman blade 2, though i do prefer 1 more.

Angel Sanctuary. I like tragic romance stuff and the manga starts out as almost this cyberpunk-occult thing although morphs into mythological fantasy pretty soon after. Also isn't as tacky as the OVA is about the weirder aspects, but still, I have a soft spot for the anime version.
