Anime Anime that many people don't like that you enjoy

I don't know if this is still true, but there was a time when The Seven Mortal Sins (no connection to the other The Seven Deadly Sins series, which is a shonen fantasy adventure thing – the two franchises have the same name in Japan) was the single worst-rated show on MAL. I actually watched it while it was airing, and it truly was atrocious, but, y'know, I did still kind of like it. (And my tolerance for bad anime is very low.)

The animation was cheap beyond cheap – the series has two clip shows across a 12-episode runtime, and didn't even have its opening animation finished until the fourth episode – but I do think that all the characters are well-designed and well-voiced. It was the last gasp of the Queen's Blade-esque "beautiful fighters" genre, for what that's worth, and I actually think some of the OVAs and the all-shorts spinoff series were quite good. The soundtrack, especially the vocal songs, is pretty excellent, too, and I listened to it all the time in college when I was walking outside.

I could never recommend it to anyone in good faith – it isn't even so-bad-it's-good, the story is completely incomprehensible – but I guess I'd buy a toy of one of the characters if I saw it being sold cheaply. I also played the now-dead gacha game, which came out like 6 years after the show ended, and it was absolutely horrible, even for that genre. I'll just look at the character art, thanks.

I tend to be more receptive of ecchi comedies than your average person would.

I’ll watch it if it’s an ecchi comedy.

I LOVE THIS SERIES, I dont care about what other anime fans think of this series. This series is fun and i love all the girls. The creator inspired me too get tougher on creating fashionable character designs. I guess Tite Kubo also took inspiration from fashion magazines to get his characters to pop.

I've watched the first two seasons back in 2021-2022 and have see 10/12 episodes from season 3 as of the 12th of this month. I'm planning to watch Season 4 of it as it'll be airing sometime this year.

Of course I have seen plenty of hate that Ruka, Mami, Chizuru and Kazuya get, not so much hate about Sumi since she's not in many episodes, (though it'd be nice if the mangaka would continue her spin-off manga).

I called dibs on Lucifer!
Now with that outta the way...

Yep I remember this one, I love it, people are not into action - fanservice genre anymore around this time, in my opinion it would be popular if this aired around mid 2000s.
I even got a Lucifer 1:8 figure too as a centerpiece of my collection, still saving up for the 1:4 bunny figure.

I know, this genre totally died out in the late 2010s, and it was one of my favourites. I know a lot of Americans (the target audience for anime now) don't like the whole "battle harem" thing, but I'd take 40 trillion of those shows before another medieval fantasy series.

I'm not sure how popular it is or not, but Monster comes to mind. It's a long (50-ish episodes) anime rife with themes of murder, regret and other such uncomfortable topics. I quite like it, as it's close to my wheelhouse, but I can't imagine the masses raving about it.

True, but all of those (save the medieval fantasy ones, of course) are at least a decade old, with To Love Ru hitting 20 next year. AND YOU FORGET MASOU GAKUEN HXH!!!!! (Don't Google that in public).

Not that I think any battle harem shows made today would be particularly good, mind – I thought anime as a whole looked way better back when that genre was still fresh.

So, one of my recent favorites is a show with two things that turn people off.

The Magnificent Kotobuki is a airplane western. With a squadron of aerial stage coach defenders fighting off sky pirates and help delivering supplies in the barren wastelands. It has some great dogfighting choreography, amazing sound design, solid if basic characters, and a reasonable twist to a anime stable trope.
Kouya-no-kotobuki-hikoutai-611f583664366.jpg

The Problems? the show came out in Winter 2019, just missing the events of 2020 and everyone staying home. and with two other airplane anime just a few months away, any airplane fans would have to pick one, canabalizing all three's potential.

The other issue? two letters. CG. Because it's a flying anime, and they have a lot of shots where you can seethe Main characters in the cockpits, the main crew are almost always in CG. but the side characters are in 2d, and that gets jarring enough. and with it being a CG anime, it's already getting compared to the worst.

But if you can look past CG, and a slower start (the main plot docent start til ep 5/12) it's a nice little anime. but since I'm a plane fan and are starving for anything, I am attached to this show like my life depends on it.

Seems interesting enough, And yeah... CG usually means cheap and Quickly made for a Quick buck.
But, i have never watched a Airplane western, so I'll give it a shot

I liked this but that mix of CG and 2D characters was weird. It had a great opening tho.
