The Switch 2 is giving me Xbox One flashbacks. I haven't seen a negative backlash to new hardware in a long time. $80-$90 physical games, expensive new Micro SD cards required making digital not any cheaper, "Game Key Cards" being digital DRM where the game isn't on the cart but is a download code that requires the cart and is only downloadable to the original purchaser so the cart has no trade-in value, etc.

Oh, and they're charging for a digital instruction manual tech demo thing that should obviously be a pack-in: Nintendo Switch 2: Welcome Tour

This is a mess.

Ah, the new Mario Kart game. Oh, it's basically an $80 game? Hm, I guess they better have a shit ton of new features, tracks, characters, items and whatever else in it if it's going to be that price.

In some respect its probably due to game development costs and budgets ballooning within recent years, and the overall state of world economies at some point would cause game prices to also rise, not defending it and of course, its probably greed to some extent but there's a lot of factors

nintendo doesnt use the development pipelines that require entire teams just for say: diffrent texture mapping separate from the modeling, separate from the yadda yadda... Which balloon costs from the 100's of devs.
