Yu-Gi-Oh!

What would the decks of the original show's cast look like with modern day cards?

(Ignoring real world meta of course)
This deck is coming out in a few weeks for us, but Japan has already gotten it and it's been one of the strongest meta decks in Japan recently. It's nice to see Blue Eyes in the meta again. I know you said ignoring real world meta but it just so happens that Kaiba is back on top again.

This was a duel I had on December.

It was the XYZ/Link festival, so the cardpool was a little different than usual.
I was also playing a crippled deck, because at the same time of the festival, I was trying to complete a mission that required to win with 2000 LP or less (which is why cards as The Ascend of Thunder were in my deck)

I was playing pure Evil★Twin, a "waifu" Link-based archetype that's about constantly summoning the two link girls.
My opponent was playing Traptrix, a deck based on Trap Hole and cards that can fetch them directly from the deck.

There were some missplays (i.e. at one point I targeted a card I shouldn't have destroyed, or at the beginning I should've used Gamma instead of Veiler) and I overlooked some different plays I could've made...

But this was easily one of the most fun duels I ever had in this game lmao
The back and fort between these two decks was AMAZING
And it was in a random festival, with restricted cardpool, and two deck that weren't built optimally at all.

I mean with all the new summoning mechanics included.
Funny you should say this because this goes back to my other reply, Blue Eyes officially has every single single summoning mechanic. The only thing it doesn't have is a Pendulum monster, which I mean... Okay... People hate Pendulum and it's not because it's complex or anything or it killed Yu-Gi-Oh... Pendulum just kinda sucks.

Ok, i'm not familiar with evil twin so i can't judge your plays except not using gamma on the pudica, destroying the normal summons cripples traptrix very hard. What i don't understand i what was that guy trying to do by summoning rafflesia that late into the game, at that point i don't see much value going into defense. The other thing that i don't understand is why he set floodgate traphole instead traptrix traphole nighmare, you already had 2 links on board, why would he prepare for a normal summon that you don't need at that point? then you blow up the floodgate AND THEN he sets the nightmare. wtf man, for real. In my opinion, the traptrix player did a missplay by not summoning rafflesia the turn it had nenpenthes and dionaea in the field.

oh my god and now i realize he tried to go into defense using the rafflesia but he didn't get another trap to cover rafflesia when he summoned myrmeleo. Also, he got burned too much, should have used myrmeleo to pop your spell way earlier.

Anyway, my conclusion is: the veiler was a mistake but after that, you had full control. His opening hand wasn't optimal but the had plays to make. I think his biggest mistake is that he kept trying to use pudica to get rid of your monsters but didn't have anything to get rid of them when they got back into the field.

I'm not traptrix expert, i'm not a pro and maybe his deck wasn't optimal as you say but damn, what the hell man. If you ever go against another traptrix player, please do a video again, i would like to see what other traptrix players do.

Anyone here hyped for the new set? Looks like Evil HERO Toxic Bubble and Evil HERO Dead-End Prison are a bit on the pricier side, both being around $20 (And their QCRs being anywhere from $100-200 from what I saw) but that's a given considering they're kind of the best support HERO has gotten in a while, especially for the pure Evil HERO deck. I built a deck way back when they announced these and printed some proxies and it's quite powerful. Toxic Bubble especially is kind of a ridiculous card. They've also gotten a change of heart type of boss monster now with Neos Lord which is quite easy to summon as well. I'll just patiently wait for these to come to Master Duel in 6 years.
Side note for anyone that keeps up with this kind of info actively: Doesn't it feel weird when the official localisation comes out and Evil HERO Doom Prison is suddenly Evil HERO Dead-End Prison? I do prefer the official name but still, weird when you get used to something I guess lol
Also side note: This might be the first set I actually buy boosters for since Battles of Legend Chapter 1, this set is a pet deck dream.

It's fun seeing that Toxic Bubble at its core is still Bubbleman, it does the exact same things of the original just in a more broken way lol

How hard are the restrictions about Dark Fusion? Its summoning requirements aside from that are very generic. Is there a Super Poly-like effect to summon him?

I used to play Yu Gi Oh. Talking Starter Deck Kaiba from Toys R Us. Collected most of the LOB , Magic Ruler, Metal Raiders. But my decks aren't anything tournament play. When most of LOBs monsters ATK were lower than 1000

Those are mostly my only concerns, recollecting the original 4 or 5 boosters

How hard are the restrictions about Dark Fusion?
In my build I run it at one. There's new fusion cards that just say "treat it as a summon with "Dark Fusion"" and they're pretty good. Of course nothing is gonna beat Dark Calling but the new ones are quite strong too and just have a recursion effect that puts Dark Fusion back into your hand. Most notably "Dark Contact" now acts as a fusion card AND a searcher for Supreme King Castle and Dark Fusion.
"Evil Assault" not only searches/special summons an Evil HERO, it also adds back Dark Fusion from GY.
"Dark Supremacy" is a pretty good negate too, even if it's a trap card.

Super Poly is encouraged in this deck in my opinion thanks to the copious amounts of cards that search Supreme King Castle now. All the new fusions are quite generic and are quite powerful too. There's a retrain of Inferno Wing and a new fusion called Darkest Knight. Overall this is probably the best support Evil HERO could've ever asked for considering the best thing before was summon Malicious Bane pass.

Oh, I see, Supreme King's Castle is the card I was missing.

The best HERO deck will probably become an Evil HERO deck with some Mask Change shaenanigans splashed in

I don't really like omni-HERO since it's a mixed bag of bricks, but a more heavy Evil HERO focused strategy is probably gonna be really strong.

Went ahead and made an Evil HERO deck, there's some builds online that use Miracle Fusion but I think at that point that's just Omni-HERO. If you want you can take out Infernal Gainer for one of the new cards, but I like him as an OTK option.

The brand new archetype Ryu-Ge receives new support in Alliance Insight with a new Pendulum and a continuous trap.

I'm personally happy about this, I really love the aesthetic and theme behind this archetype. Can't wait for these to come out.

You ever wonder why there's barely any Level/Rank 11 monsters or Scale 11 Pendulum monsters?

What does Konami have against the number 11?

There's only 3 Rank 11 monsters in the entire game I believe, and one of them is Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe, which is a really popular monster because... Well... The card art says it all...

The new monster really helps the archetype, the field spell is an ash magnet. Do you guys think Dialga and Palkia will be added in the next wave of support?

I used to play YuGiOh back when Zexal was airing in the states. I loved how fast games got going and how quickly your momentum can be disrupted by a well used trap or special summon. The balance wasn't perfect but it was good enough to be fun. My main decks were Cyber Dragon OTK and Lightsworns. I tried to get back into it a few years ago and what the fuck happened? The new rules with Link summoning gave me a headache, the power creep is worse than it's ever been, and hand traps have rendered one of the core mind games of YuGiOh obselete, Da fuq?!

I just want to know why Yuma's dub voice actor made his voice so nasally? Seriously, if his voice was any more nasally he would've been just straight up talking out of his nose!

This time its Maliss, I won't post the individual pictures but I'll link to the "announcement"
I'm not a fan of this archetype but I'm sure a lot of people are happy to see support for these guys, that being said... I'm dreadful for the chance of new Ryzeal support in this set.
Also, new errata
Primite Dragon Ether Beryl no longer says "During the standby phase" but rather "During your standby phase" kind of funny honestly

I hope so, this is the archetype I was most hyped for in Crossover Breakers so I was really happy to see that they were the lowest rarity in the set.

There are some combinations which are safer than others.

When you make a Warrior card, for example, you have to take into account the existence of Reinforcement of Army. Plants? The whole plant type. Cyberse? Again, they have very OP combo lines.

That's why Wyrm was created initially, despite essentially being "new dragons", it's because Dragon support was too plentyful and was limiting design space for new creative Dragon-inspired decks.

It's the same with level 11.
Level 10 gets a good amount of support, just recently in Master Duel Yubel (level 10 monsters based deck) got a new powerful XYZ monster.
You make a card level 11 if you think it would be too broken with the support level 10 monsters get

They could but level 11 monsters are either bad or just kinda don't exist
For example the original Gate Guardian is level 11 and it's quite bad
I think the best level 11 monster is probably Psychic End Punisher and even then that's a synchro

What about Gaia Prominence, the Fierce Force?
Actually a great question!
I'm sure it's good in the Gaia deck, I have the synchro it uses for it's material but that's about it
Like I said most of these are archetypal specific cards and don't really get any play outside of that regardless of how strong they are, and this one does read very powerful
