It was just okay. I traded it in for some credit and bought Zone of the Enders the following month.

In the grand scheme of things, I'm a very recent PS2 owner. Before owning one myself, I usually played PS2 games via the PS3's backwards compatibility, or through emulation.

The first physical games I received were Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne and Gran Turismo 4.

Devil May Cry 3, I love the intro and tutorial but my little kid mind didn't understand how to combo so it was frustrating

Tekken 4. Didn't buy the system till the game came out.

Tekken tag tournament. Bought a ps2 in 2019 though.

The original Ratchet and Clank (came bundled) and what a showcase for the ps2 that game was.

Jak and Daxter. I got it for Christmas, and beat it that day. It was the last time I binge-gamed. I remember not being able to roll my eyes around in my head for a bit after that. Lesson learned...

Woah man u did your homework before deciding what to buy, great pick
I worked at GameStop in the mid 2000's. I had the best Manager who was up to date on all the must have games on every console. I bought my PS2 Slim far into the consoles life. Almost all of the best PS2 games had already been released by that point. IIRC the only games I bought new were Biohazard 4 (Resident Evil 4) in the US, Rouge Galaxy, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, and Okami. There were probably more, but I would have to go into storage to find out what i actually bought. I'm a collector. I've never sold or traded games. I just have terrible memory.

I wish I bought this when I had the chance. Back then, GameStop employees were able to "buy" the "Adult Only" exchanges.

Metal Gear Solid 3, it was a hands me down from a distant aunt's son. Too bad the disc was scratched, i don't think he ever noticed it was in that condition. The first hours were perfectly playable, but afterwards, loading screens would take longer and longer, i don't remember how far i got. It was only when i got the Xbox 360 port that i finally beat the game.

The first PlayStation 2 game I ever bought was DEVIL MAY CRY 3: SPECIAL EDITION because it was just that fucking good. I didn't even own a PS2 and just used PCSX2 since it let you use actual discs in your PC's DVD drive. Also I remember that running it on an actual disc instead of an ISO made it run better with the emulator at the time.

we got Tekken Tag Tournment and couple demo discs with our ps2 in my family, struggling to recall what the next one would've been::peek

Kingdom Hearts. Got it along with the console as a christmas present in 2002.
My parents knew I liked Disney, and they knew I liked stuff that vaguely resembled Zelda (a pretty japanese boy with a sword I assume was their thought process), and they were right on the money. KH1 is the only game in the series I kind of like, and it's because of that innocent whimsical feeling it gives me each time I replay it.

pretty sure it was the sequel of crash bandicoot since I enjoy the one from previous console a lot

One of the first game I got for the PS2 was Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, still absolutely goated to this day.

I've been hooked on it since. Like a battered wife i keep coming back to it.
Still my favorite Ace Combat title to this day, though Zero is pretty goated as well.
