Most of those are games I used to play years ago on original hardware and have fond memories of. There's a bunch of other cool, obscure titles that I've been exploring recently through emulation as well as some good rom hacks like Ninja Gaiden III Restoration Plus

I like a lot of them, most of the ones listed already I would put in my top lists. But the game that's always at number 1 for me is Bionic Commando. A platformer where you can't jump is just very fascinating to me, and getting good at the swinging is very satisfying.

Dr. Mario & Kirby's Adventure immediately pop out to me as some of my favorites.

The big ones aside:

1. MOTHER, The very first Earthbound game i played, rough around the edges there are patches that round those, up to this day i still hum the Eight Melodies while making myself breakfast
2. Rockin Kats, a goofy platformer with the weapon being ny favorite cartoon trope: those gloves fueled by a spring, for the record, this game beat Sonic to the "Mascot with attitude" for six months
3. Little Samson, the annoying shot noise aside, i love this game, the graphics made me question if i was playing a NES game at times, and all of the four PCs are useful
4. The Guardian Legend, Zelda and Gradius got a baby and this is the result, an excellent game with its only caveat being pretty long passwords
5. Bonk's Adventure, a goofy ass caveman defeats an army lead by a giant reptile before Donkey Kong made it mainstream
6. And lastly Crystalis, my very first ARPG, love the music, the gameplay and Lore, i has memorized it so much i has beaten it in a single sitting

Nekketsu Street Basket: Ganbare Dunk Heroes is a fighting-sports game hybrid that is probably the best multiplayer game I've ever played. Each team has two players and 3 baskets per side. There's weapon pickups, super moves, fighting game combos and stage interactions that leads to some crazy moments. Strange that more people haven't played this one because it's one of the best games on the system.

My other favorite NES game is Full Quiet - an NES homebrew game released in 2023. It's a sidescrolling survival horror game (yes you read that correctly) with incredible art direction. It's criminal this game didn't get more attention. Amazing puzzles, a huge open world, tight controls and incredible atmosphere. Part of the reason why it never got much attention is because it's paid homebrew. It was also never released on ᏟDᏒ. It's actually the only NES rom I've ever paid money for. It's available on steam and certain romsites still and I really encourage everyone to give this a try.

Another honorable mention is Battle Kid 2: Mountain of Torment another incredible homebrew release. It's clearly inspired by esrly Mega Man and I Wanna Be the Guy. Tough as nails but has lots of checkpoints and quick retries. It's got cleverly designed challenges and a huge interconnected Metroidvania-style map. Great boss battles in this one with a Metal Gear inspired story.

One of my favorites. My babysitter had a copy of the Volume 42 issue of Nintendo Power that she gave me that I believe had a brief piece about it (along with a kid winning a decommissioned OCP police cruiser from Robocop 2)

Some of mine are ones that got translated (or had little to no need for it) like Konami's Wai Wai World 2, Samurai Pizza Cats, Zombie Hunter, Splatterhouse Wanpaku Graffiti, and Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa

I also really like the port of Pac-Man, Sega's Fantasy Zone, and of course Micro Machines

Same, there's such a wealth of great content on the NES/Famicom for everybody to find at least something to enjoy. Same goes for the Genesis/Mega-Drive and SNES in my opinion
