Every era has things deemed positive or negative.
Japanese entertainment from the end of the last century had a vision akin to the '
Old Testament', where
God can create life, but also destroy it under specific conditions. This also represents a
Sapiens and its life, which is made of both lights and shadows coexisting in synergy within the same body.
Today however everything is so puritanical that it no longer has any flavor (modern '
Dragon Ball' doesn't even have blood or bruises and Ranma Saotome has lost his nipples), at the same time, the storage media of the past were abysmal compared to what can be done today (
VHS vs.
BD).
If we pretended that time travel really existed, I would probably go to work for a high salary in
Japan just as the economic bubble was being born; the era when
Toriyama Akira's works made their debut and '
Jump' grew with every passing week; the country taking control of video games rising through everything from the
Famicom onwards and the
Arcades that were still alive and buzzing.
Works that encapsulated that historical period well that come to mind are '
High Score Girl' and '
GTO' (even if they focus mostly on the
90s).
Anyway once the early
2000s arrive you'll head back to the present, because fuck reliving that apocalypse of puritanism we are still currently in all over again (not to mention video games taking 10 years of development to be released in an incomplete state and if they fail the company and their families are fucked, but also having to put up with '
One Piece' and its fandom

).
