I've been around the block and have played a LOT of really bad games, from games for the Amiga all the way up to present day. A lot of them are awful but still have a certain level of charm which makes me not hate them but many are so bad, I want to forget them. And in that list, some always remain in my mind regardless because they were just THAT DAMN BAD!!
Games like Captain Planet and the planeteers on the NES!!!
Or James Bond Jr on the SNES
Or Sword of Sodan on the MD/Genesis
But if you want a relatively recent one, I present Hyperdimension Neptunia on the PS3!!
This game was all kinds of awful and it's a miracle that such a strong series came from this abomination. This game is so bad, the company remade it later on and basically scrubbed this version out of existence!
performance-wise, the game struggled to maintain 30fps at any point.
Gameplay-wise, the system didn't allow you to use items directly, you had to set up rules so that the characters would use items when certain criteria are met, such as if the HP of a character falls below 50%, use healing item X. Or if character is KO'd, use resurrection item.
That in itself was awkward, especially since there was no other way to heal or resurrect your characters but the real kick in the teeth was that you could not use items outside of battle! I repeat, you cannot use items OUTSIDE OF BATTLE!!
So if your team needed healing, you had to go into a fight and risk further damage and KO to heal your characters!!!
The game was also a huge grindfest if you wanted the "true" ending...
