Ymir

I've had that happen when the game wouldn't boot so I ended up reverting back the conversion of the disc. In some instances for example some mod or hacked disc, it wasn't worth pulling my hair & stressing over it so I left it as is.
Yeah, hacks, mods or translations I suppose are better used with the original dumps to avoid complications.

Discord server for Ymir, if someone is interested. The dev sometimes drops dev builds there.

This guy is a genius, it's only been like a week and that's a huge changelog, including the most requested feature.

I tried it out on some of the .chds I had lying around. Most of the games seem to run great. Last I tried it, Sonic R had rendering issues with its water, but that seems to be completely fixed now. I did have issues with a few games though, my English translation of Policenauts is only recognized as an audio CD (although the audio tracks do play fine), and Saturn Bomberman wouldn't load at all, but I might also have been using the wrong BIOS file.

Yes he's awesome.

Wow! This might become the best saturn emulator in a few months
In my PC it's already better than YABAUSE and its forks (they never worked in my machine - latest version of Yaba Sanshiro is extremely slow in OpenGL and in Vulkan the screen keeps flickering)

I have a Ryzen 3200g with only the igpu.

Yabause and Yaba Sanshiro are too buggy for me and usually crash.
Kronos is heavy or have a frame pacing problem or audio synchro or something because it has a constant 58 fps in an NTSC game and lags a bit.

Mednafen seems to work fine on my PC and has nice performance I think.

Ymir is really promising but some games perform poorly for my PC on it, specially if I disable the Threaded VDP optimization.

I hope with time it could be optimized even further. Or if I could afford a better CPU or PC lol.

Prior to Ymir, I think the only other Saturn emulator I got working well was Mednafen. Yabuse and Kronos always gave me troubles.

Bug fix release
they add a drag and drop feature i like that
guess i'll add ymir to my emulators i already have blastem for Genesis/Mega

can someone send me some Saturn BIOs/ROMs?

I got a Ryzen 5 3400g with only the iGPU as well! Hardware's great but AMD drivers suck so much in Windows.
And yeah, in my PC, I could only run Mednafen/Beetle Saturn in RAlibreto - even RetroArch doesn't work (but fuck RetroArch anyways, stupid frontend).

Which games run bad in your Pc? I wanna test them in mine.

Dev builds require Patreon support?

What? You're talking about Ymir? No, the developer himself posts some dev builds in the discord. I asked him to donate some bucks but he ignored me :(
Is it possible to compile the code? Or we have to wait for the initial releases?

Yes he's an awesome and really nice guy. I think he does it because he loves it that's all.
He said that he isn't opposed to donations but that's not his motivation.

Damn I want to respond to all of you but can't at the moment.

Guys just jump to Ymir's discord for any doubt, by the way I'm a tester there and helped with 0.1.4+1 emergency release.

@Yuki Senoue @thecrow2313
I'm the same user there.
someone should tell him that his baby needs an auto updater, makes keeping up with the new versions much easier

also
(but fuck RetroArch anyways, stupid frontend).
fuck RetroArch hart until it dies, bro
it's just a mess of stolen emulators or "cores" as they call them.
total disrespecting the peoples who made them

standalone emulators are the way to truly play retro and support the developers who made them

I've compiled it myself on Linux, it's pretty straightforward. I'm not sure how it is on other platforms.

Well autoupdater could be nice.

The thing is that the emulator is fairly new and the author was working mostly solo, so he can't do all at the same time (but he is open to suggestions ) perhaps he needs some help or people who codes could help him implement things.

Bizhawk also uses the mednafen core for saturn and it runs great. Have you tried it?

i will try ymir when i go to play sakura wars 2.

nearly finishing the first one, will continue to use bizhawk in this one, it worked well up to here.

before starting the game, need to see how ymir works with multi disc and how to use it.
