X-Men Arcade Game 6-player.jpg

Have you ever seen a 6 player X-Men arcade machine? Beautiful isn't it? It was so big it needed TWO screens side by side. Man, back in the day if you found one of these and got 5 other people to play with you it was the friggin' best time you could've asked for.

The game itself is great and came in 2 and 4 player models but nothing compares to the 6 player model. You could play as Cyclops, Colossus, Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler or Dazzler and having all 6 on screen at once kicking all kinds of ass simultaneously was the stuff of legend.

I have actually. and played one, a few times. Back when Wal-mart/K-mart ect still had Coin-op's outside the store.
Ya know, to Milk more money from the Parent's so Little Timmy could waste 5$, And his Parent's gave him it, so he'd Shut up
Seriously tho, they had one of these at Said local Walmart Years ago. Primal Rage, MK1/2 Ah good times. Have a lot of Fond memories with a couple friends. Dropping 10 bucks into one of these. and getting pretty far into it.

I think there was one on the SACOA near my home. Beautiful beast indeed.

Didn't they require frequent maintenance due to the way the buttons were set up? Pressure-based or something.

I had a local casino with one of these, the best part of high school was getting out early with enough people for a full game. It was close enough to a bingo hall to terrorize the elderly with Colossus screaming.

Here in Lima, perú we had this game with his cabinet in three arcades(as i know).
One of them in the legendary "Bam Bam", now an peruvian crafts shop.

Noting compares to walking into an arcade and hearing "HRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!"
I always picked Dazzler, literally because best arse. 6-player cabinet was da bomb.

Rogue has a better ass though

Except in '97. Too bad she wasn't in the Arcade game, though. Hence, Dazzler.

They gave special care to the thigh muscles too...

The new one? I havent watched a new western cartoon in ages
(cause they're like a pussified version of shonens)

I mostly run into the four-player cabinets in my neck of the woods. I did see a six-player cabinet in an arcade bar that was in a big city a couple hours from where I live, but it was out of order the night I was there.

I main Nightcrawler and can't figure out how to beat the Blob. But someday I'll do it without putting in extra quarters.

I found one of these as a wee kid at an out-of-town arcade. It hard to overstate how massive it is when you're still so young. I remember not understanding how the coin slots correlated to the chosen character and being upset I didn't get Wolverine lol.

There are few of these types of deluxe cabinets. Ninja Warriors from Taito has similar dual screen ultrawide setup, and Darius games use even up to three screens, and two widescreens in the modern arcade installment for ultraultrawide going

If you are interested, as far as I can tell, PS3 PSN version of X-Men might be one of the best ways to play the title at home. You cannot choose characters if emulating the 6 player cabinet conventionally, and setting up for that is a lot of arcade sticks around a large TV at least.

But the official version on PS3 and I think also Xbox 360 is likely one of best ways if available to you. Of course everyone pool in their arcade stick and have a couble of small USB Hubs and bob that uncle up.

At my childhood arcade (which, since I'm so young, is still operational) still has this! Maybe I can get a photo when I go to visit sometime in the future.
