I know the thread has been necro'd but I wanted to answer it! This is actually something I've had a fascination with for a long time, generally robotics has always been an interest of mine and most media (both fiction and scientific) surrounding it. I think we're making a mistake again, not so much the automation of our industries because that's inveitable but more that eventually these things will gain some form of sentience. And when they do they're going to wonder why they're being treated like machines and not sentient beings.

It's a repeat of mistakes we've made in the past. I really do think we should be giving robots the same human rights we have from the get go. I know it sounds ridiculous but I feel like it's going to bite us in the future if we don't, and if robots ever get to the point of say Chobits or Bladerunner then I could consider adopting one as a family member. Not a lover, or a slave, or anything like that but a member of my family. (I want a Sumomo!)

Will the robot also be capable of renovations?
Will they count as an extra tenant for rentals/leases?
Can they drive?
Are they good at their jobs?
Do they do windows?
Are they shaped like a butler/waifu, or like a garbage-can-on-spider-legs?
If the former, will they be capable of making extra cash on OF?
Will they have a personality?
How susceptible to hacking are they?

And most importantly...

Will my dog and/or cat freak-out over it like they do my robo-vacuum?

But in the real world, any robot like that will have 300 cameras and 400 sensitive microphones sending everything they see and hear to Amazon, Google, Apple or whoever their real owner is, so... no thanks xD

To answer the OP's question, I would, but I really don't think I'd want it to look like a real human being. The uncanny valley truly creeps me out, and if I'm going to have to live alongside this creature all day long, I'd rather it not be some swampy-skinned wobble-skeleton who's dyed plastic eyes lock dead onto mine in the middle of the night, screeching "I LOVE YOU MASTER GORSE, GIVE YOUR ARTERIAL VEINS TO THE TESLA-MCDONALD'S CORPORATION TO DEMONSTRATE YOUR INFINITE SUBMISSION!!!" as its fetid jaws open to reveal row upon row of rusted piranha teeth, dark-red and dirty-brown with an unknowable victim's blood. And where would I plug in the charging cable!?

What kind of wifi bandwidth would you need for Microsoft updates.Hdd or equivalent to save memories or download feelings. It'd be Unreal, i'd run like Duke Nukem and pray for a BFG while facing iminite Doom. Things would be so backasswards youd be in new hell with a Halo over you head after smoking a pound of green like a Master Chief. I still wouldn't be high enough to want a robot maid or any robot to get that close. This day and age smart phones,tablets/hand held PC and laptops/smart watches. The robot age has been here and we are the robots with technology controlling us don't need artificial live or beings you got natural life and humanity already set in place.
