Worst RPG Character Names

Edge from Azel: Panzer Dragoon RPG/Panzer Dragoon Saga, it's even worse because everybody pronounces it as "Edgy" on the cutscenes.

Oh also Joran in Xenoblade 3. It sounds like people are always yelling "URINE!"

Oh, man. More Final Fantasy Tactics names come to mind.

Prince Orinas (another unfortunate name in Spanish, literally the verb urinating)

On top of that he's a toddler most of the game, so his name is doubly unfortunate. A literal baby pissing its pants, lmao.

Strategy RPG example, but who can forget ol' Dorcas from Fire Emblem 7

Portrait_dorcas_fe07.png

Between his silly name (haha Dork Ass) and the fact that the NA commercial for FE7 was centered around Dorcas dying, he's become a mild memetic loser in the FE fanbase.

Dogi from from the YS series. (Dougie or Doggie?)

Krile from Final Fantast 5. I looked it up and in Japanese it was Kururu, like the fairy puppet sidekick in Rhapsody. I can see how it got mangled. But it does not look right. Why not go with Kira or Kiri, Kalli or something like that instead? I don't even know how I'm supposed to pronounce it. Poor kid. :loldog
I always read it as Krill

Poor girl is named after whale food
Apparently it’s officially pronounced Cry-uhl according to FFXIV

It’s Doh-gee I’m pretty sure

Valkyrie Profile had some....unsusal names in the japanese original to say the least

The original name for Princess Jelanda is... Geraldo

Like, WTF Tri-Ace was on?

dragons dogma 2 generates some weird ones, I am almost certain I got one named "cletus" or something similar that didn't fit the theme of the game

Always thought Shulk was a pretty wacky name for a JRPG protagonist, but I don't know that anything will ever beat one of my favorite Atelier Rorona characters, Esty Dee.

Was it a tongue-in-cheek joke or Japanese devs being oblivious to English, who can say? But for a character named STD she (fittingly?) sure packs a punch.
Esty Dee is entirely the fault of the localizers making her name sound like S.T.D.
Her Japanese name is Esty Erhard... which itself is goofy.

I assume they were going for "Earhart" as in, "Amelia Earhart", but the Japanese person didn't properly understand English letters.
I say that because the kana uses ト (toe) instead of ド (doe).
