Worst emulation experience(s)?

i heard mame can emulate any platform but idk how
and also 3D games i emulate on mame is just bad to experience bc the sound can be choppy at time and graphics are imperfect or nonexistent

Your not alone apparently you need files upon files for it.
I'm always confused about clones, redumps and even if you install an arcade game you need some files for some reasons it's annoying.

For consoles you only require the rom and sometimes a bios file and that's it.

Retrobat is a godsend, it has all the good stuff from RetroArch but without the need of prescription medicine😂

N64 emulation is probably the worst experience you can have because the emulators feel incredibly outdated by today's standard, including Project64 and Rosalie's Mupen GUI.

On a side note, I had my save files corrupt while using No$GBA therefore I'm never using it again.

You should try Mupen Parallel Launcher:

Ouch!

Trying to get the more modern arcade systems like Naomi and Triforce running was always a nightmare. I gave up after a few tries.

Thanks, I'll give it a try when there's something I want to play on the N64 again.

If I'm being honest though, I feel like I've been spoiled by all the features and options coming from the recompilation's and decompilation's of N64 title's. It makes me think I should just wait.

If I had the choice I'd take de/re compilations over strict emulation.

I'm not ready to talk about it but let's just say i never want save/load state hot keys ever again!

Also, for some reason onionOS/retroarch was using a new save slot every time and I couldn't change it.

My worst experience was when I first tried retroarch YEARS ago. I went in without tutorials or nothing and just ended up rage quitting. That was my fault though. Now I love retroarch ::dkapproves
Happened to me too, alas i only use ot to Replace standalone MAME, still a better experience

N64, no doubts—just for one SPECIFIC GAME Conker’s Bad Fur Day. Yeah, it might not mean much to you guys, but for me… god, I finished this game at 10 FPS. The last battle with the alien was brutal… I was saving every 10 seconds, DAMN. Well… at least today I can emulate it decently. Back then, maybe I wasn’t good at emulation yet, and it was the worst experience EVER. But btw, this game IS AWESOME—it easily became my favorite, even with all the lag and problems :D

The only emulator that really always causes problems are the N64 emulators. I don't know anyone that really works properly I have no idea, it's probably a gods task to make such an emulator!

Avoid Project64 since it's quite obsolete.

You should try Mupen and its Parallel Launcher.

The first time I tried PS2 emulation, I nearly fainted from motion sickness. I was playing the PS2 version of Okami from the disc on PCSX2. It ran horribly, likely because I had no idea what I was doing with the settings. Was used to plug and play emulators for pre-5th gen systems.

Just remembered another one. Daggerfall on DOSbox. The emulator introduces new audio glitches that turned the game into a survival horror game due to my sensitive hearing. Friendship with OG Daggerfall ended once I figured Daggerfall Unity out.

Damn... I have so many... The first one that comes to mind was with my old laptop. I tried to emulate arcade games, but for some reason the emulator wouldn't open the games or simply wouldn't detect the ROM. I spent five days trying, and in the end, it never worked. Another anecdote was trying to emulate MK Sholing Monks on my phone. At first, it was fine, but as soon as I got to the part with the pit of spikes, the game crashed. And lastly, I tried emulating PS1 on my Wii. When I opened MVC, the console crashed. I panicked because I thought I'd lost my Wii forever. Luckily, that didn't happen.
