World of Warcraft thread

nerfs and buffs aplenty, i suppose the biggest changes are likely mythic dungeons and raiding for you, plus dragon riding style flights, it's really crazy and "high octane". i've been off the game for a while myself, having some aversion to the game due to a terrible social experience but excited to jump back in.

also - NICE remix!
Well, it's never really about nerfing, it's about folks in there that you know. :)

legion remix looks so good, guys.

also:

I think this was a great video. MMOs are what we want it to be, M+? want to get KSM? CE/AOTC? or just craft and sell, collecting mounts, collecting old transmogs. we don't have to do what we don't want to just log in and sit around and chat even sometimes is a good use of the time

I can't decide what I want to roll. I'm thinking of Warlock maybe, they always get cool flavour stuff.

I've always been adamant on playing for fun. And lo and behold, I'm still having fun!
The few occurences where I felt like it turned into a job I just took a step back and chilled a bit. I was a pump healer (shaman) in Classic who got fed gear by my guild because there was a big shortage of healers, but they weren't giga-tryhards so the experience itself was very fun. I was hesitant at first because I didn't know if I was gonna like it but I'm glad I gave raiding a shot because it was so enjoyable the little amount I did.
I didn't go further than killing C'Thun once as it was a personal goal though, because everything past that one kill was too big a commit, and I'm glad they were chill enough to respect it ::terriermon-happy

I haven't played Retail in like over a year, I do feel like Retail has lost it's sense of exploration and a living world with them giving you flying right at the start of the xpac. Think I main a Dreanei Destruction Warlock in retail.

I did start MoP Classic a few months back and have been getting into it since it's the leveling experience I first started with since WoD was my first xpac. My main in that is a Dwarf Elemental Shaman who just hit the Cata zones before my subscription ended and I didn't want to pay for another 2 months again with how many games are releasing in October that I want to play.

With me waiting for said games I started looking into some of the private servers. Turtle WoW I did get two toons to lvl 8 messing around but I don't have the drive to really level them since I really wanted to play Ascensions Classic+ mode which launches on Friday, sadly same day as Digimon so will miss out on the public launch of the Bronzebeard server, might get on it Friday after work while I have Digimon downloading to get a character created. I also have an interest in their Conquest of Azeroth server when it goes public

I was impressed with Turtle’s customer content when I checked it out, though Ascension I never really liked very much.

I’ve been leveling a Warrior on the classic Anniversary realm, and I can confirm the theory I’ve had from experience now, that the attitude towards the game is a billion times better on the PvE realms than PvP. Started out on the PvP server and it’s insane how filled it is with tryhards who want to take every bit of fun out of the game. PvE realm is WAY more chill and friendly, people helping each other all the time just for the sake of it.

Currently level 23, on that awkward part having to hop between Stonetalon, Ashenvale and Hillsbrad. It slows down when there’s so much travel time.

Think that's about where I stopped on the Anniversary server. There is a quest in Hillsbrad about collecting like 10 murloc heads and that killed me. I'm not sure how much time I spent killing Murlocs but felt like hours just for the next quest to be go back and kill more Murlocs. That drained my motivation :p But was nice since I was playing like a month after the server opened and got to experience people kiting the dragon to SW on a regular basis.

Oh and even though I was on the PVE realm Forsaken players still had no chill. I remember waiting outside Shadowfang Keep for party members to arrive and one kept spitting on the ground at me and circle around me trying to taunt me

i thought of this as i flew right over hallowfall and thought "wow look at this beautiful landscape, the devs put in so much detail and depth in the zone and we just fly over the whole thing"

I thought they totally had that feeling in Dragonflight again because those zones felt like "real" (but obviously fantastical) places, so it made me want to run around in them and find stuff. Both Waking Shores and Azure Span are two of the absolute best they've ever done imo.
The TWW zones are too hyper thematic so it feels much more like a tour, especially when so many areas are those "red mobs are fighting eachother endlessly" kind of areas.

And then if you do decide to go around on a ground mount the zone semi feels dead from other players since everyone else is flying so you might see someone flying overhead.

Don't think I will ever experience the high I got from BFA day 1 questing alongside a flood of players with mobs almost instant respawning to try to keep up with the demand

looks like midnight will be removing the need for WAs, and I really welcome the change, the only thing I'll miss from addons that depend on the combat API is probably Details! . The DPS tracker, along with the interrupt tracker is super useful to help you master the gameplay. they should also add a way for people to easily track their resources like Astral Power / Energy / Points for builder/spender classes or mana. like apart from the character portrait, cos the character portrait is rly small. scaling up the character portrait and putting it in the middle of the screen is not as neat as just separating the resource from under the health bar and placing it at the middle of the screen to better track it

I’m so happy
DBM is unequivocally the worst addon to have ever been made

DBM dev says him and his project aren't going anywhere and will do it's best to still be in Midnight. Weak Auras team gave up and will just focus on classic. I never used either mod. In retail I mainly used stuff like pet finders and rare trackers. Classic I have to use a bit more like Questie. But I never liked the idea of having a mod telling me how to play a game

I agree.
I think the entire playerbase just got a bit too comfortable with things like DBM over the years. Even the devs at some points, but of recent years they've tried harder in making fights more readable in general which is good.

World of Warcraft: Midnight is supposed to be released next year, I'm excited because the trailer looks really promising.

It'll be nice to finally have housing. Always thought that was a neat feature.

telling me how to play a game

i agree. i think while DBM is good, learning the game == learning to not stand in fire. i havent bothered to use it really for a while now.

ALSO! there is an in-game resource tracker ! that can appear under your character in the middle of the screen! so that's good :) i really don't need a WA to see my astral power easier now
