Gameplay
Kid Dracula is one great platform game, divided in 8 levels until the final boss, the King Garamoth, the level design still today are a great surprise, with many different types of barriers, as mobile platforms, waterfalls, gears and flames. The main difference of the Game Boy version in comparision with the NES version are only the size of the levels and less quantity of enemies because the limitations the handheld have.

Are notorious the efforts Konami put on this game, with a great level design, combined with a great music. All the elements to guarantee to the player one good experience during the gameplay.

Here in Kid Dracula we have an great magic system. According the game plot, after sleeping for too many years, the Kid Dracula's memory was a little fail (however he doesn't addmit), because of this, he don't remember all the magics he can use. Becasue of this, during the levels we re-learn some of this special attacks, what are showed to us in a demo screen and one quick explanation of what are each attack.

The magics our Demon Prince uses are different kind of shots (what are the attack magics) and another related to effects, like BAT (fly like a bat) and UMB (the powerful umbrellla, used to protect Kid Dracula of the things launched by the enemies). Each attack are important to the level you are in, because of this, are important to know how to use each magic and the correct way.

The special attack, when utilized, the player earn one coin to each enemy destroyed. You will use this coins in the minigames between the levels e this are the only way to earn extra lives. The energy can be filled by the hearts you found allong the levels, the three hearts you have can be upgraded to at least five.

The bosses are not so hard, however they always have more than one attack pattern, sometimes changing himself or bringing a allied to fight agains you.

Conclusion
However are a short game (you can finish the game in 30 minutes), still a great platform to spend some energy and discover what Symphony of the Night is not the only great vampire game develped by Konami.

This one is super cute! Thanks for writing about it.

I read the article, and i think it would be cool to have it featured for this halloween. As feedback, it's difficult for me to help people since i'm also unsure of my english, but i feel it could be better if you change some commas for some periods???? (i don't even know if this sentence made sense) i don't know, tweaks on grammar shit xD

For me, personally, a review is way better when the author puts himself also as the object of his text. Like, if you explore at least a little bit of your own relationship with the game you're reviewing, it's more relatable for the reader. Readers may not know anything about Kid Dracula, but they'll probably have a lot of emotional memories about their experiences through other games. And that's the way to create a link, you make people imagine if they will feel as you, or as themselves in the past, when reading about your personal adventure with kid dracula.

edit cuz i just noticed now you're brazilian too: porra mermão é foda escrever em inglês mas dá uns pulo aí.

Hello @eroguro, thanks for your submission!
Great game and a fitting theme for this time of year!
However, it would need some rewriting before it can be published, as there are quite a few mistakes here and there.
For example, I couldn't understand this phrase at all: "the levels e this are the only way to earn extra lives."
Could you clarify it for me?

Maybe @Shadowruls could have a look and fix it for you?

Hey @lucasgvse and @TrepieGroupie#1 thank you guys for your consideration!

I'll improve the text and submit again.

What are the best way to do this: editing this one or create a new thread?

Thank you!

You can do so here. No need to put images up, just the text.
I think chatGPT can iron out most of the grammatical errors quickly! feel free to use it for corrections.

Hey @lucasgvse, @TrepieGroupie#1 and @Shadowruls here are a new draft of my application:

Introduction
In 1990, Konami showcased its ability to make fun of itself by releasing Akumajō Special: Boku Dracula-kun for the Japanese market on the NES. In 1993, it was released worldwide for the Game Boy under the name Kid Dracula, marking the beginning of our adventure.

Story
After awakening from his long sleep, the self-proclaimed Demon Prince, Kid Dracula, discovers that he has been challenged again by the evil King Garamoth. Kid Dracula accepts this challenge and embarks on his journey to defeat Garamoth.

Gameplay
Kid Dracula is a fantastic platform game divided into eight levels leading up to the final boss, King Garamoth. The level design remains impressive even today, featuring various types of obstacles, such as mobile platforms, waterfalls, gears, and flames. The main differences between the Game Boy version and the NES version are the size of the levels and the reduced number of enemies, due to the limitations of the handheld console.

Konami’s efforts on this game are noteworthy, with excellent level design complemented by great music. All these elements ensure a good experience for the player during gameplay.

In Kid Dracula, we have a robust magic system. According to the game’s plot, after sleeping for many years, Kid Dracula’s memory is a bit faulty (though he doesn’t admit it). As a result, he doesn’t remember all the magic he can use. Throughout the levels, we relearn some of these special attacks, which are introduced to us with a demo screen and a quick explanation of each attack.

The magic that our Demon Prince uses includes various types of shots (which are offensive magic) and effects like BAT (allowing him to fly like a bat) and UMB (the powerful umbrella, used to protect Kid Dracula from projectiles launched by enemies). Each attack is important depending on the level you are in, so it’s crucial to know how to use each magic ability effectively.

When the special attack is utilized, the player earns one coin for each enemy destroyed. These coins can be used in the mini-games between levels, and at these mini-games are the only way to earn extra lives; you can't find lives in the game levels. The energy can be replenished by collecting hearts found throughout the levels; the three hearts you start with can be upgraded to at least five.

The bosses are not overly difficult; however, they each have multiple attack patterns, sometimes changing their form or summoning allies to fight against you.

Conclusion
Although it is a short game (you can finish it in about 30 minutes), it still offers a great platform experience. I remember when I was a child, and a friend lent me a cartridge with a bunch of games, one of which was Kid Dracula. That was my first contact with the Castlevania franchise. Recently, I discovered the Game Boy version and played it again, realizing that the game experience at 38 is still as great as it was when I first played it at 12 or 13.

Believe me, if you play Kid Dracula, you will discover that Symphony of the Night is not the only remarkable vampire game developed by Konami.

You know, it's funny. I have looked and looked and looked at this game. I dig it's absolute cuteness. I am one of those - "stick a vampire in it and I'll give it at least a glance" kinda folks. But there was something multiple times I checked out the gameplay that had me checked out. I don't remember. But I will give it a go, if you love it enough to give it this much praise. Thank you!

I believe this text is ready to go, bro!

You need to wait for @TrepieGroupie#1 to approve your text and make you parte of the writers guild. It will give you access to post in the articles/reviews section. Then you can finish and publish your text there, with the images and stuff xD

I changed only a few things above:
  • "each magic" > "each magic ability" (something about magic being uncountable idk..)
  • "and at this mini-games" > "and these mini-games"
  • "at 38 years old is still as great as when I first played it at 12 or 13" > "at 38 is still as great as it was when I first played it at 12 or 13"
Put it under reviews https://retrogametalk.com/reviews/
And welcome aboard!

Please in the future put the article here first so we can check for things to improve if necessary.

Thank for your considerations, @TrepieGroupie#1! And thank you for approve me for the guild!
