Interesting about the new saturn emulators, I'll wait a while before downloading to see if problems arise. It's library doesn't look too impressive but it probably has it's gems. The arcade talk is interesting. Someone should start a thread or article on the arcade experience. I'm not an article writer. I couldn't be bothered. The summary is, it started with shiny new machines, welcoming smiley enthusiastic staff, exciting new type fast-paced games. You could play 2 player with a buddy right next to you without looking over your shoulder, jump into one of those car drivers that moved flawlessly with the visuals, shoot at approaching zombies or cowboys with a shiny plastic gun, all good. A year later, when entering, you're looking to see if knives are hidden in pockets. The staff look burnt out and are not welcoming. Prices have gone up. Machines are creaky, fag burns and chewing gum stuck to them. The games are mostly sequels, not much new in the place. The car or flight simulators are rocking way off, creaking, dried puke not properly cleaned off. In those latter days, I did get a strange kick out of being in there. Your senses and awareness were heightened. They had to be if talk of a recent stabbing was true, which, these days I doubt. Eitherway, it was an experience that I enjoyed overall. Realistically, with game consoles around the corner it wasn't going to last. It was a hook really, imo.
