Why couldn't they drop a nuke or send a nuke to kill Lavos?

I got myself thinking, and thought why couldn't they time travel to the future and teleport a nuclear armament to destroy Lavos?

When Lavos surfaced in the apparently technologically advanced 1999, it destroyed that civilization in an afternoon. Not sure nukes would've worked, or if they even had them since theose are never shown to exist in that world.

Perhaps Mother Brain could cook up some advanced anti-Lavos weaponry, but it was clearly more focused on extinguishing humanity instead.

damn shame if they didn't exist, i think it would be powerful enough to damage or hinder Lavos from attacking

Doesn't Chrono and his pals mostly come from a time where nuclear technologies haven't even been thought of? They might not even understand the concept of such a thing.

Biological storage would be useless against the threat of the lavos level, That would be the same as thinking, "You shoot Godzilla with a bazooka in the eye and you surprised he's still alive."

Wait, I thought they did in ending E?

A nuclear bomb at the center of the planet is a ....... terrible idea to say the least.
Why? It wouldn't affect life on earth; even if you did set off a nuclear weapon at the core, that is minuscule compared to the total thermal energy of the core of the earth. Unless it somehow disrupts the convection of molten iron currents which sustains our magnetic field, it wouldn't do anything to life on earth.

I think they could send Robo or some durable robot to the past, along with some scientists...
They could research about the ways of defeating Lavos, and the results of their research should have been stored in that bot... and kept standby until reaching the same time-period that they sent it from...
They would get the results, and send the same scientists to the past again, but this time, with the result of their previous lifetime!

They could easily solve all mysteries of the world this way!

If that were the case wouldnt that cause a paradox?

Mr galaxy you been thinking way too much "why's" and "what's" regarding video games , maybe just maybe you need to draw instead of thinking? Shit ain't suiting you man stop annoying me with these dumb questions N!!!

I dunno bad idea most likely

Yeah but then we wouldn't have a video game. We'd have a visual novel.

Not really... because it's not a self-repeating loop.
It's a manually controlled loop, and they can stop it at any iteration, if they consider it enough info.

Mr Panda... You cannot stop the progression of knowledge! 🧐
The solution of the biggest mysteries of the world, sometimes are rooted in a silly question...
We shouldn't stop people from questioning...
Question, question young Nebulon... let your Galaxy of confusions shine upon the world! ::hellmo

And I am sure that it will increase the prize of your head... err... i mean, you will become a more prized person! 🌟

And i'm sure i will benefit immensely from having such a prized person around myself! ::star-war

Lavos is so technologically advanced that it's literally surpassed the laws of physics. It created humans as a tool to advance it's own goals.

If you aimed a nuke at it, it would probably respond by redirecting the nuke towards civilization or just absorb the blast and use it for fuel.

The only reason people would develop nuclear weapons and aim them at it is if it wanted that to happen.

Because a nuclear armament hasn't fought against a plethora of bosses throughout the game, so the boss-rush phases of Lavos would have nothing to reflect.

I guess it would depend if the capability to defeat Lavos would be possible to develop within that timeframe. Like if you were in 2 dimensions you couldn’t climb a castle wall, if you got 3 dimensions you could fly right over. But if it was a perfect steel ball you were trying to get into then 3 dimensions wouldn’t really increase your chances over 2 dimensions, if Lavos was just powerful attacking it at any timeline could still be difficult.

Plus I think if the writers let the “heroes” do more in depth time travelling they would have been obligated to let Lavos have some kind of equivalent strategy like sending power back to its past self or correcting weaknesses and being stronger each time, and it would equal out to a similar power balance.

These aren’t iron clad points but It’s fun to think about though!

Someone wrote a "sequel" of sorts to Chrono Trigger back in my AOL days on ANTagonist, Inc where humanity had achieved interstellar spaceflight, and taking down Lavos Spawn was a somewhat common occurrence. Like, Lavos, as powerful as it is, is still an organism. It didn't come from nowhere. It was birthed by another Lavos-like entity and sent to Earth. So as the human empire expanded, getting a Really Big Gun on their spaceships to kill any planetary parasitic Lavos-like organisms was a must.

I can't remember the rest of the plot, sadly. I think what happened is that one of the Lavos-like organisms used its power to alter time, and the Chrono Trigger heroes had to go and stop *that* Lavos organism from doing something to stop humanity from existing--without creating a paradox? Maybe.

The fanfic was before Chrono Cross came out in the US for sure.

Oh yeah. In the Chrono Cross universe where Chronopolis existed (not Dinopolis), I kinda always wondered why *they* didn't have a plan before Dream Lavos or whatever made a plan to come back somehow. Like, I don't get Chrono Cross. No one understands Chrono Cross. Xenogears? 8th grade reading material. But to understand Chrono Cross you gotta have like your Doctorate in Anime. But anyway, it seemed Chronopolis "existed" in the future and was doing stuff with FATE "before" the Lavos you fight at the end of Chrono Cross "existed" and Chronopolis should have predicted it. They could have built a Time Nuke to kill that Lavos off, for sure.

Anyway, to answer the question: Lavos is so powerful that it exists beyond the flow of what we see as linear time. You would need, like, a super special TIme Nuke already planned for its emergence, or a time machine *and* a nuke of specific proportions to take it out. I think the final final battle in Chrono Trigger, where you're fighting the Lavos cores, exists in a "special" sort of time that makes Lavos' death "mostly" final. Like. I'm not even sure what I'm talking about anymore, but its temporal field could, like...if the Lavos of 1999 AD were destroyed by regular nuclear weapon, the Lavos of 1000 AD (or 1998 AD) would still be alive, and would "know" what the future held for it, and adjust the timeline accordingly. It's a three man team that has to get inside and do the job is Weird Temporal Dimension Stuff.

I'm gonna nap. I'm not sure I had a point. Sorry
