I used to, but I realized it hampered my enjoyment of games. So I stopped as much as I could.

Of course, I play on the Steamed Deck, so it refuses to let me erase my login information. Most I could do is force log out via the RA site, which leads to me getting the "unable to log in" error message. If anyone wants to look at my corpse, here: https://retroachievements.org/user/Hourai

It really hampers my enjoyment too. I'm glad Nintendo still isn't doing them on Switch 2 since I wouldn't be able to resist being OCD about them. Adding them to retro games personally sounds like a nightmare to me but I do think the project is cool for people who like them.

Yeah but I bounce from game to game
Dunno about Tail Concerto, may be a bit too complicated on keyboard controls for me like Ape Escape was

What?? I thought they were just "patches" or "undubs"... Are you sure?
Yes 😭 For example, the only file supported by RA for MGS2-S is the USA file, and I play the SLES file because it has the spanish translation! So no ach. for that version, sadly

Yeah, also very glad they refuse to directly partake in this. I used to be a trophy hunter, and it was...I mean, sometimes I enjoyed myself. By so often it was just a lot of effort for no satisfaction (since I have the illness that doesn't give you pleasure chemicals for completing a task). I think the Switch 2 is a fool's console, but it not having that is one thing I can say is certainly a pleasant decision.

Have to constantly be aware of this. These... achievement lists, if I look at them too closely, tend to guide me consciously and unconsciously to play games in a way I normally wouldn't, from game choice to tackling weird challenges. I feel the site is fun for me but I think achievements overall are probably... a net negative for 'humans.' It's easy to just disregard all this bc it's not like the video games are injecting chemicals into anyone's bloodstream, but people can absolutely get addicted to endlessly crossing stuff off an achievement checklist.

I'm in hardcore mode, but when I see certain cheevos that ask for very specific conditions, such as beat such and such boss with only fists without weapons or magic, in a level less than 10 and without taking damage....I ignore and continue playing without trying to master that game.
I don't have the patience or the time for that kind of challenges and when I think about it I don't gain anything practical by doing it.

Achievements are addictive but that's why I tend to only focus on the ones I can unlock without so much trouble.

Good outlook ^^^

I feel like the best games to play with Retroachievements on are "Session Games" (game that you can pick up and play to have fun without having to follow a storyline, Like Burnout Legends and Wipeout) and games that you already beat before.
Literally me and ham ham games

I think I've got a problem with RetroAchievements. I may have been hooked a bit too much. Doing the weekly cheevos, today I started playing Magic Knight RayEarth just to get the cheevo.

It's a very very basic turn-based jRPG with magical girls for the SNES...

But I'm past 40 years old now. And that's a game I would have never considered playing in the first place. At least not my nowadays self. It's like I'm a 10 year old virgin again. I may have taken things a bit too far...

I used to, but I play on a Retroid Pocket 2S and I'm not always home. So if I have no online access I can't unlock achievements. I rather enjoy the game itself, then worry about a check list I can't access because some nerds are worried about the purity of the score boards.

It’s me, I’m nerds (I won’t play some games away from WiFi bc I’m achievement hunting them)
