Alright here is a topic, what's your favorite book series?
for actual books, Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson is really fuckin sick n cool n awsum.

as for Manga, NANA will always be my favourite. Also One Piece is rlly good :3 (i need to get reading again, I stopped at chapter 491)

Mine is Hammer's Slammers by David Drake, its about a mercenary company which gets involved in a myriad of conflicts around the galaxy, each story its them in yet another war, although there are recurring characters like Colonel Hammer, Pritchard or Joaquin, each story usually follows different members of the Slammers (or people having to deal with the Slammers), thing is, its written by a war veteran, and he doesn't shy away from the nitty gritty, a lot of the operations are exactly how a military would do them, and the description of the carnage is exact in the gory details, and some Slammers don't shy away from war crimes.

I like it because I like accurate military operations, and that it doesn't preach at you, it shows you war as it is, and its up to you to come to your own conclusions.
Mine's a little bit of a toss-up between Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game series, or the Red Rising series by Pierce Brown.

Both have lots of general concepts and themes I love when it comes to science fiction stories, but I'm not sure if I could just pick out one when it comes don to being a favorite.

For those that aren't familiar with it, Ender's Game is a little difficult to talk about without spoiling the end of the first book, so I won't say too much about it other than that the first book is about a bunch of kids (and in particular our main character, Ender) being trained to command through a game and prepare them for defeating a threatening alien race called the Buggers. The rest of the series takes place after, and there's a companion series that starts with Ender's Shadow from the perspective of another character in the books.

The Red Rising series by Pierce Brown is set on Mars, and follows a lowborn miner named Darrow. This series features a society where everyone has a color (red, pink, gold, etc.), and your color determines your place and role in society. Reds are at the bottom, golds are at the top, and there's a myriad of other colors in-between. In the novel, Darrow is chosen to infiltrate gold society and destroy it from within. The first book is a bit weaker than the ones that come after, but it's still a fairly solid read.

The Lord of the Rings.
Basic-ass answer, I know haha, but I really don't care. No fantasy I've read has ever come close. It's completely, wholly unique.

I think The Hobbit on it's own is a more enjoyable read, because I'm a big fan of children's fairy tales in general, but I view it as "Book 0" of LotR so it's still kind of part of the whole shebang, but it's easy to just open up and read on it's own on a whim.

Look at all those guests! Quick, let's give 'em a show!

It seems, the users here are plotting the triumphant return of the hippie community.
Love and Peace and all that jazz...
I don't know if the gloomies will be very happy, with this development.

There's always room for gloom. Maybe they could compromise and become gloomy hippies? "Give doom a chance, man!"

Has anyone met someone off of a forum IRL(that you didn't already know beforehand)? Two for me, both friends I made during high school in the early 2000s. One I rented a room from for a summer in Arizona, though the heat and lack of knowing anyone else there scared me off back to Oregon. The other friend I met when I flew out to West Virginia for his wedding a few years ago. I haven't really kept up with other friends from way back when unfortunately, now that I have the means to save up and go visit people.

Not a forum, but i have met some of my internet friends irl.
Me too :3 it was surreal but i met a group friend during covid times via discord and now they are kinda more best friends than my school friends sjjdhhd

No. I have not. I probably never will unless we have a close connection.

Nope, never. The few italian users on this forum probably live far from where I am, and even though they don't, I'm not interested.

Nah, never met any of my online friends irl. Trying to go see one of my homies that I've been talking to for like 11 years now though. That's my best friend so I gotta sometime. Trying to set that up with our entire friend group. Hopefully this job I'm supposed to be doing soon will give me a good boost so that I can start saving up for the trip.

No, From what i can gather from users of my country(talking about rain and cold), I suppose they live near the south pole, and I live towards the center. I do visit the south rather frequently, as I hate the Hot and dry weather here.
Gloom is needed, To much sugar and I end up needing the whole "Purification ritual".

Only once. A friend I made online lived one state away from me and happened to have family he visited semi-regularly in the same town as me. We linked up to play games in person a few times.

Can't say I have, though there was one friend group where most of us did video calls on Skype for a while. Closest I've ever gotten so far anyway. :loldog

I met one of my best friends for life via Newgrounds. We knew each other exclusively online for 8 years before he moved up to where I live to study together. Now he lives down south again but we still chat almost every day.
