Which user would you go on a date with?

I mean I would actually love to make super close friends online and meet someday, but I'm so cautious. Lol. The internet is a scary place.
yeah but creeps can be anywhere sadly. being extra cautious can leave you very alone in my experience

I agree. I mean I have a few friends irl. I enjoy mostly being alone though. When I feel like I'm getting too attached to online friends, I start to distant myself. I wish I wasn't like that. I guess because past experiences ruined it for me. It's hard for me to come back out of my shell with that, but I am trying.

Eh, we all have some type of trauma, I don't think you are bad for that. It's hard to get over fears. It won't just "go away." Maybe some day you'll be able to work on that, but don't push yourself too hard. It's not worth doing something that's gonna make you uncomfortable either. Me? I just have problems and I can't relate to people. Probably a side effect of the Autism or something.

Not a forum, but i have met some of my internet friends irl.
I once met all my Final Fantasy 14 raid team members irl during the 2023 FFXIV Fanfest convention. I had been raiding with them for about 8 years at that point. It was strange hearing their voices coming from actual bodies LOL. It took awhile for me to realize their voices were actually theirs, mostly when I listened without looking at them

I gotta go to a con one of these days, I just hope I'm a better person before then. Gotta hold back them demons. Can't be making snarky comments man.

Conventions are pretty fun. I'm not too much of a big fan of them anymore tho since they're so noisy and busy. They get me extremely overwhelmed VERY quickly. Now.... If I was up on a stage singing an anime song that a wrote for a new show.... And had a VIP pass.. heheheh

You know, mentioning this. Me and one of my buddies really want to go to a gaming con or a comic con or something. We just gotta save up that money to go, and find time. He's got a soul crushing retail job so you know how that goes. I gotta figure out if I want to go the extra mile and cosplay. I am planning on braiding my beard and going as a viking to the next Renaissance Faire.

I love talking to everyone. I do get disconnected because I have these like side thoughts that no one likes me. Lol. Horrible. I know. So I distance myself. My own worst enemy!
You're like the best person here what, totally not because you made that picture or anything lol. Seriously though you're cool as shit, just like everyone else I've befriended here. I know I can't just say that and make you feel differently but I do mean it.

Alright here is a topic, what's your favorite book series?
OH MMY GOD okay wait I just remembered this one book that I LOVED as a kid. I've been rereading it since yesterday and I love it so much. It's not a series but it's called *A Mango Shaped Space*. It's about a little girl named Mia who has Synesthesia and thinks she's a freak until she meets another kid with it too. It's the book that introduced me to the word and concept of Synesthesia and that it wasn't particularly "normal" all the way back when I was in 4th grade haha xD

Mine is Hammer's Slammers by David Drake, its about a mercenary company which gets involved in a myriad of conflicts around the galaxy, each story its them in yet another war, although there are recurring characters like Colonel Hammer, Pritchard or Joaquin, each story usually follows different members of the Slammers (or people having to deal with the Slammers), thing is, its written by a war veteran, and he doesn't shy away from the nitty gritty, a lot of the operations are exactly how a military would do them, and the description of the carnage is exact in the gory details, and some Slammers don't shy away from war crimes.

I like it because I like accurate military operations, and that it doesn't preach at you, it shows you war as it is, and its up to you to come to your own conclusions.
I haven't got into many book series lately, and I've only finished the first book of The Witcher so far, but I used to be heavy into these Goosebumps knock offs called Michigan/American Chillers, and they had stories I think that were better than the crap R.L Stine was coming up with. I remember one where this kid was playing "insert legally distinct Castlevania game here" and he got sucked into it and had to get out. Or there was one where these kids got left behind in this "everyone is missing" type scenario and they found this scientific facility where some crazy experiments were happening and it was the cause of everyone being gone. Really cool books, and the author Christopher White, under the penname Johnathan Rand was really active in the children's community here in Michigan, had a couple of my books signed by him. Really cool dude.

Actually, now I'm upset. I remembered that my damn books all got water damaged. God dang it man. Not gonna discuss the way it happened, but I had like 100 some books when I was a kid. I was obsessed with reading.

Those sound so cool, I love the premises. I rlly miss reading children's books like that. Tbh I feel like YA or Novels written for Adults lose that sort of creativity and wonder. Most of the YA/Novels I've read seem to all be about some dark underlying conflict or drama or whatever.

The idea of getting sucked into a video game and having to escape sounds like such a Saturday morning cartoon and I LOVE it. I'll definitely have to check those books out.

If you like Goosebumps at all you'd really like them. I remember they had awesome covers too. Actually just looked it up. This is one I had as a kid.
